Shoppers Drug Mart

Seems like every time I go in here there's a major incident that is handled poorly by staff. I've overheard clients on multiple occasions complaining that they've been waiting over an hour for their prescriptions. One such customer was turning a bit belligerent (not swearing or threatening, but being a bit of an ass about it), after waiting an hour and a half. The pharmacists were very busy, and doing their best, so understandably the customer's remarks were rude, and ignorant. However, the Pharmacy Manager's way of handling it was to loudly shout "we can kick you out, you know!" This set the customer off into a swear-filled tanget, and he was then told to leave. Everyone knows businesses have the right to refuse service—threatening that you can do so, so that every customer in the store can hear is not the way to defuse a situation. Last night I was in the aisles when I heard shouting, running, and a large crash, followed by screaming. Apparently someone (who the staff seemed to recognize), tried to steal something, then ran from the loss prevention officer. According to other customers, who were understandably shaken up, the LPO tackled, and then punched the thief in the face. When the other customers remarked that you can't just punch someone in the face, regardless of the situation, the staff members argued with them, saying he can "because he's an undercover officer." The LPO was not affiliated with the RCMP, and even if he was, punching someone in the face for shoplifting is excessive violence. Afterward, the thief was thrown out the door. The LPO then walked around the store, chest puffed out and "apologized" to everyone by telling us all that he had to do that because he was placing the guy under arrest, which he clearly didn't do. I feel like he realized he got caught going too far, and that he may have faced questions from the RCMP if he actually placed the thief under citizen's arrest, so he let the guy go. Once again, it was a difficult situation made way worse by staff members arguing with distraught clients. Both situations could've been diffused by apologizing and offering to make things right, instead of getting defencive.

Friendly staff. Witnessed bad customer at the pharmacy treating staff very poorly who still calmly handled it well. Disappointing how people treat others nowadays.

This branch is decent-sized and open till 10. Convenient location & still has a pretty good selection of things.

I always have a good experience getting my prescription at this pharmacy. Rola Zein and her co workers are not only fast and friendly, but they make all their customers feel like they are getting special treatment. I strongly recommend this pharmacy to everyone

The gentleman that was working in the pharmacy went above and beyond and provided his thoughts and advice on each product that was recommended for teething. He was a pleasure to deal with and relieved this first time mom that she will be doing the best for her son. I will definitely continue to use this pharmacy as my go to.
