nnAs an Iranian who has been working in the food industry for over 30 years and has experienced almost every side of this business, there is a saying I truly believe in:nn“If an Iranian restaurant makes a great Koobideh, you know it’s a good Iranian restaurant.”nnThis was my fourth visit to this restaurant. I had been here three times before, but this time we ordered several Koobideh kebabs—and honestly, everything came together beautifully.nnThe fresh bread, perfectly steamed rice, and the balance of meat and fat were excellent. The amount of saffron was also just right. Nothing was overpowering; everything had its proper balance.nnThe Koobideh was grilled very well, with a great texture and proper char. As someone who pays close attention to grilling, I would definitely give this restaurant a full star for the grill work alone. nnThe staff were also friendly, polite, and professional, and the overall service was excellent.nnEverything was on point this time. The only issue was the washroom, which needs some attention, but considering how good the overall experience was, I’m willing to overlook it on this visit.nnFive stars from me. nnWhen you know food—and especially when you’ve spent decades in the food business—you recognize when a restaurant understands balance, technique, and consistency. This place did.
Great food and a really nice experience! The koobideh was excellent, juicy and full of flavor. The Gheimeh Nesar was also delicious and full of authentic taste. We started with the tahdig, which was a super tasty choice and definitely worth ordering. Friendly staff, generous portions, and everything tasted fresh. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Vancouver.
This place is truly one of my absolute favorite Persian restaurants. The food is incredible—every dish on the menu is top-notch, and I’ve tried them all! If you’ve never had Persian cuisine, I highly recommend starting here. But beyond the food, the staff is phenomenal. As someone who’s been coming for years, I’ve noticed they retain their staff—a testament to how well they treat both customers and employees. The team is always kind, professional, and knowledgeable. That combination of amazing food and excellent service makes Shishlik stand out. Plus, the owners are so welcoming—it feels like you’re dining with family. The vibe is just fantastic. I can’t recommend it enough!
We tried a couple of Iranian restaurants in North Vancouver, this one stands out. Amazing grill with open fire., the Kubideh Is outstanding. Serena the server is efficient fast and very sweet. We were here for 10 days and ate at Shishlik 5 times!
My friend and I came in for Persian food. The beef kebabs we ordered were fantastic and service was prompt. We shared the eggplant dip and it was very flavourful. The portions are generous with the rice as very customary with Persian cuisine . Loved the tahdig that came with the Persian rice. Everything was excellent during our late lunch early dinner visit . Will definitely come back for date nights or girl outtings . Bravo to the whole team. I hope you great success in Coquitlam.
