I've been to over 50 providers in my lifetime for various reasons. He's the least compassionate and one of the least informative physicians I've ever seen. He was terribly wrong in his diagnosis and I ended up driving to Eugene, OR in order to avoid him at all costs and see another doctor. That's 7 hours out of my way.

in 2010 i had an emergency visit into the E.R. which ended up with having a piece of titanium and 4 screws and wired jaw from a broken and fractured jaw. On call was shimotakahara who performed the surgery that i went under. 5 weeks later he had me return to BAH to remove the wires from my jaw. again i went under surgery. recently i have become aware that he had installed an inner ear cochlear implant,. nano. EMP. in my left ear canal. i did not authorize it or been made aware by him. I have found out that he maliciously did so for the use of electronic stalking and harrasement. He did this for a 2nd party by the name of theresa collier. federal employee at BLM. age 50. 3rd party gail yost, whom which assisted in the connection . To link all that was needed . this could be a shock to you stephen so heres your notice before your warrant,

Didn't seem very concerned or enthusiastic about determining why my son had a severe random nose bleed that had landed him in the ER the previous night. Removed the nose pack, looked inside, saw nothing, but wants him back in a couple weeks...what for? He didn't even hand him a kleenex to catch the blood clots.

Make no doubt about it, this man is highly educated, experienced and skilled. The framed diplomas and commentaries on patient room walls are impressive. However, he finds it extremely difficult to listen to a patient's questions and/or concerns and respond empatheticly. Once he has formed an opinion and stated it to the patient, there will be no additions, amplifications or explanations beyond what was originally stated. I would go so far as to say that he is angered by further questions and avoids further questions by engaging in note-taking on the computer, both with keyboard and oral dictation so as to shut out the patient. Further questioning of the doctor brings out his belligerence. He has his little world of the office and only infrequently allows the patient into it in spite of sitting inches apart. If you accept the premise that the Doc is God, then you will enjoy him.

I have gone to some trouble to write this: joining Google and Google Plus. I had such a similar experience to Mr. Emptio that I realized the fault may not have been entirely mine. Or even mine at all. I went to Dr. Shimotakahara last fall for a sudden onset of one sided ear noises and extreme dizziness. Both were very distressing for me. He looked in my ears and then pronounced them normal. That was it. When I said that I felt something must be causing it (I was near tears) he seemed perturbed and then did a nasal endoscopy and told me I had a severely deviated septum. He said that was not likely to be the cause. He also seemed to be judging me negatively because of the septum deviation. Seeing that I was still not satisfied, he ordered an MRI and a hearing test, both of which were to be done at a later date. A follow up appointment was scheduled and I had the MRI done. I had to reschedule the follow up because the well pump on my property malfunctioned on that morning and required my presence (it is a shared well-other people needed it to be taken care of other than myself). When I did go back I was told I had a small tumor on my acoustic nerve. He seemed very surprised by this as I had shown no significant hearing loss on that side. And also, I assume, because it was only due to my continued distress that he ordered the MRI. The Dr. Did not think it was causing my problems but sent me to a head and neck surgeon in Portland anyway. But before I left the office, he wanted to know why I had cancelled my follow up appointment. I explained why. He seemed very perturbed that I had cancelled an appointment with HIM for something so trivial as restoring water to several families. The surgeon in Portland told me that there was nothing to do at this point, and seemed to question why I was sent to him as Dr. Shimotakahara had already explained the situation. The trip to Portland had to be overnight as the appointment had been scheduled for 9:00. It was not my choice. So 10 hours round trip and a hotel room for nothing. During my 2 visits with Dr. Shimotakahara he was arrogant, decidedly uninterested in anything that came out of my mouth once he determined my ears looked 'normal', and seemed annoyed that my MRI showed a tumor. He spent the majority of the visits dictating his notes of them into a tape recorder or whatever it is he uses, while I just sat there on the end of the examining table with my legs dangling. I am now seeing another local ENT who is working very hard to get at the root of my issues and to whom I wish I had gone initially. Whatever the outcome, I will know, at the very least that he exhausted every avenue and is doing so while treating me with respect and interest.
