Just here to people and dog watch. Lots of happy doggos! Nice scenery.nnNo maintenance for the trail in the winter, and the restrooms are predictably closed for winter, but quite nice!
Amazing park for hikes and to spendtime in nature. The path is not difficult but there are steps all the way. Hence it is a great workout. It is kid friendly as there are rails along the path. It also is dog friendly. However, there are no bike paths which is the only downside I see. It is a great park to enjoy fall colors and a bit of nature in the middle of the city. People can bike to the park and store them at the bike stop area and go for a mini hike.
Sherwood park is a beautiful forest with off leash dog paths. This forest boasts massive trees that are over 120 year old. Despite the signs everywhere that say to keep your dog on the path people find a way to break the fences and let their dogs run all over “environmentally significant” areas. There is plenty of space on the many paths for dogs to run free! Wonderful place to for a walk and well maintained walkways.nnIf you come to enjoy the nature please help preserve it and keep your dogs in the designated areas. There are wonderful informative signs throughout the forest.
Amazing location and park to hike and enjoy a nice sunny day. Almost in our backyard and I never knew it was even in the city unit I started researching Google Maps. Parking right off Sherwood Avenue and free. The park starts with a great snow hill for the kids to play on. Then it goes down into a gorge with hills on both sides that does keep you warmer on a sunny day, no winds.nTrail maps at the top of the hill, parking lot entrance and down at the bottom. The entrance has tables to sit and relax or some lunch. The tails go off in a few directions but you can choose to go clockwise or counter clockwise and still come back to the beginning. Some stairs on the trails and some wooden structures to cross.nPerfect for all family members even you're doggies. The trails are all fenced off on both sides and I assume to keep the wooded areas from getting destroyed. But even though everything is fenced in, still very nice, very quiet and you forget this is still in the city.nMany people hiking were wearing Ice cleats and maybe a great idea as I was slipping and sliding a few times with snow covering ice areas.
A nice green space uptown with beautiful scenery. A paradise for dogs and their owners. Dog owners claimed the ownership of the park proudly, do not go there if you do not have a dog just kidding. It was too busy a park, people moved at different paces and in different directions, runners might huff and puff at you and dogs might sniff at you. Air was not fresh, smells from weeds, the creek and perfume scents. There were some pleasant floral scents near the washrooms, haha.
