Book an appointment and take all the needed documents with you. My appointment was for 9:30am today. I walked in at 9:21 and was back out by 9:31. A total of 10 mins. It was the most easy and painless experience renewing my documents I have ever had. The person at the reception desk was amazing. Friendly, helpful, personable. I heard him talking to someone else after me who was looking for an address and he helped this person in the same way - friendly, helpful, patient. The person who worked on my application was great too. Just got everything done efficiently and I was in and out. Overall a wonderfully run branch of Service Canada. Everything seemed well organized and calm. Hats off to you.
Plenty of Parking.nnReception Lady was terrific, pleasant AND helpful so I guess the other reviewers met a different receptionist than I did.nnThe lady in the booth was friendly, fast and effective, we were in and out in 25 minutes.nnMy only criticism is that the agent calls you up by shouting your name and a cubicle number and most of the customers I saw didn't catch the cubicle number so they had to wander up and down til an agent claimed them.nnAll in all though a surprisingly good experience and worth the drive from Kitchener
This place is great if you have all your documents in order, speak English and/or French, and be prepared to be patient and wait 2 hours.nI was in a lineup of 6 people and 4 didn't have the correct/complete paperwork/documents to make it past the 'triage' so if the lineup looks long, I'd assume some of the people are at the wrong spot.nAlso this place does not expedite processing of passports you have to go to Kitchener for that.nSome people in line were looking for motorcycle license info and plates, if you're looking for that go to Service Ontario across the street.
I went to this location this morning at 8am as I was one of the first people to walk in and be served.nnAs I approached a worker, an old caucasian lady with grey hair; was very rude to me as well she was not helpful. She seemed grumpy and irritated with my appearance. Mind you I am a minority.nnAs I came to her with a question asking if I have to renew or get a new passport as my last one expired but I received it at 16. She said I was 16 for a month and two days and sent me home to fill a new application. She was rude and guided me with wrong info.nnAs I returned the same day, a co worker helped and assisted me that all I had to do was renew and indeed did not have to fill out that application.nnI literally went in and was told to leave to fill in papers and get requirements that was not needed. Thank god I returned the same day and someone with actual job knowledge and kindness helped me.nnThe old Caucasian lady was rude, and never in my 26 years of my life I never felt prejudiced in a government setting in Canada.nnThe wait time is not bad if you go in the morning.
“Therese Beaudry - Citizen Services Officer” was the most rude and disrespectful customer service person that I have yet to come across in all my 28 years.nShe is an older Caucasian woman with shorter white/gray hair. The only reason I’m mentioning her looks is because it appears from some reviews on here that other people have complained about her as well.nnI had an appointment booked for weeks, and I got there and Therese flew through everything. not in a good way Criticizing my application without being helpful besides “Go to the passport office in Kitchener” which is fine, but I was very confused and had questions. I’ve never had to do this before. I am a Canadian citizen and had an old passport and I just need a new one because I got married in the summer and changed my name. So applying for a new passport should NOT be this complicated, first off.nnDespite the first person that I saw there over a month ago that told me that I needed to apply for a new passport at Service Canada with my new name, and the man on the phone last week reiterating everything I need for my appointment, today Therese was telling me that “I need to learn how to read” and “what other people told me is not her responsibility” Basically throwing her coworkers under the bus while simultaneously being unhelpful to my situation.nnWhat I did to deserve her as my agent today, I have no idea. But I should have known that it was gonna be bad when I overheard how she was speaking to EVERYONE.nnTherese Beaudry… Citizen Services Offer? You either need serious client service training or a new job. This woman spoke down to me just like my least favourite teacher back in high school did. My God. She kept saying to me “We’re all adults” “We’re all adults” “Learn how to read” when I was telling her I was confused and it seemed like I missed a section about one piece of information that I forgot to bring. Out of the 10 other things I remembered to bring.nnI never talk back to customer service agents because I’ve trust me… I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to work with customers. But I verbally told this woman “Wow you’re really rude” as I was leaving. Because she was really rude. I was astonished.
