I’ve always had fantastic service from Service BC, from my road tests to renewing my license and more. Recently I had a wonderful experience being served by Phyllis. She was extraordinarily helpful and kind, and eased my anxiety by making me laugh and feel at ease. She is a huge asset to this place and our community. Thank you for your service Phyllis, you make a positive change for our people with your work!
The wait was a bit of a snooze literally lol being middle of the week I was 10th in line, yes , the lady that helped me was named Phyllis I think, anyways she was so pleasant and helpful, she made the wait well worth it. One thing to consider is this office handles BOTH your driving and I.D needs as well as clients with income supports so it can be challenging waiting through people who are not there for simple business or signatures, so these employees deserve a break on any attitude that may develope when frustrating wait times get absurd. The place was clean and tidy and the security guard did a great job handling a child with a little too much sass. So bottom line? Go early if your impatient, and a smile goes a long way. We're all human .
I’ve always thought our office here in town was gracious and friendly, the security guard a good friend after so many years was always very friendly and happy to see me. I most of the time was treated fairly here. As for the two I was forced to use in Vancouver, I was appalled at how the people were treated there. Myself included, my mother raised me to “kill’em with kindness, then they can’t use anything against you. I always agreed, until one day in Vancouver, I got so sick of seeing their posters of how we MUST treat them or suffer even more poverty stricken denial ability, and then thrown outside without any fairness or ability to defend our right to respectfully say to the social worker who “helped me” that day, but instead decided to ban me even though I never once raised my voice, broke or disregarded any of their so called “mutual respect “ your suppose to be shown, and then even worse, after I was banned I was deferred to this third party place I’d never heard of before for one full year. It’s been well over since even though I was denied the information on how to have the ban review before I was subjected to it, then even worse, when the one year mark came about, the women that worked there were the worst I have ever encountered, disrespectful, unprofessional, and again I was denied the information on where I was to go to speak to their superiors, or what office I speak with about how they conduct themselves at their level of work. I’m still banned from speaking to anyone face to face even though, I’ve never broken one of their policies in the first place and now I live back in Port Alberni. So I’ve been oppressed now by services bc, for the last two years.nI’m not sure to this day who I am to speak to, to lift the ban that was illegitimately passed on me and I was forced into oppression because these women in the Vancouver office would refuse who I speak to above them. I’m just appalled at how they conduct themselves there, completely ignorant and disgraceful and I wish I could have reported them to their superiors office, because they mistreat people there so badly.
Place is filled with drug addicts and smells like out house in June. There was two people sleeping and snoring falling over and being disgusting. A man clapped to wake them and the security gaurd kicked the man out who clapped! Then the drug addicts walked out side and started a fight with the man and the gaurd did nothing
I gave my road test on 29th on December 2023 in port alberni 4070 8 ave. There is one guy who failed me for no reason. I was being cautious on the left turn as the mandatory green wasn't there and on green cars coming so I waited for the yield of the way and moved after the vehicle passed in those fractions of second the examiner shouted at me to go and at the end of the test he has no flaws in the report but then he marked one cross for this as a dangerous action. They said he was an intern one Indian guy and learning. He wrote good driver good shoulder check and failed me for the reason which wasn't even a fault. He has no knowledge about the signals and everything he lacks attention to details and just sitting and also misses the direction and drove me for almost 40 mins. That doesn't make any sense and I was accurate in every facet of test but he still had something in mind which is totally unfair and unacceptable to me.
