Overall, Scotiabank is ok. Acceptable service and under normal conditions everyday banking is smooth. I do, however, have a particular frustration with this branch. This is the closest branch to my work so i have no other options. Pretty much all the employees are incompetent. They don't know basic stuff (like what an ATM withdrawal limit per transaction, they get confused between each other when, for example, one employee says one thing, then another employee hears it and says no, it is incorrect etc). The most frustration tends to arise when it comes to credit cards, TFSA. I had to stay in line for about 20 mins to find out that depositing money on TFSA requires seeing a financial advisor. The ladies serving the line, before you actually get to a counter, had no clue about it. One of the financial advisors declined my credit card application stating that I dont have enough income for that. I went to another branch and they reassured that it was a mistake on the bank's end (my income was more than enough for pretty much any of their credit cards). The same situation happened with a back-up credit card that i requested (that card has good insurance benefits) - their financial advisor "advised" me that it would be a huge risk for the bank to approve my application due to me already having one credit card with them. I applied online and my application was approved in a matter of seconds. It just seems that they like saying that everything has to be according to bank policies and protocols, but in their everyday line of duties they lack competency.

He an appointment with Tuan Ngygen three years ago and realized upon withdrawal that he changed our RESP account from family to individual without giving us clear explanation (and every advisors we have met now asked why would anyone change the account from family to individual). When I reached out to him couple years ago he never replied either.

Renewed our mortgage with them and they gave us a good rate but told us we had less than 24 hours to come in and sign. As the branch is not open late early in the week we were expected to take a day off work to sign. After I left a message on the managers voice mail the person were we were dealing with called and extended the signing time. When we went to sign the amortization period was incorrect therefore our payments were wrong, we changed the mortgage contract but the wrong funds were taken from our account. We received a good rate but the service is below par.

When I went in to do a wire transfer for my engagement ring the teller had no idea what he was doing. I had to return to the branch to get this done.
