Been here for brunch twice and wasn’t overly impressed with the food on either occasion. It’s not bad, but many of the options basically just include a ton of bacon and cheese, which is great, but that will make anything taste good and doesn’t require much creativity. The blueberry flapjacks are trying very hard to be Mildred’s pancakes, but don’t even come close. The wait to get in when it’s busy is quite disorganized and allows people to bud ahead in line. The interior is pretty cool... nice rustic/hipster vibe.

On Sunday, we wanted an early brunch before the Toronto boat show and found out about School in blogTO's top ten brunch spots. It opened at 9:30, whereas most places opened at 10. We arrived at 9:50 and were seated quickly. Servers were attentive and friendly. We ordered The Safe Bet and Black n Blue Flapjacks. The flapjacks came with real maple syrup and whipped cream and a slightly too sweet sauce on top. The smokey-sweet bacon and soft scrambled eggs with The Safe Bet was a highlight. Con: After 10, the lineup was out the door with a wait of an hour. Prices are a bit high for breakfast. Pro: street parking is free until 1 on Sundays.

I've been hearing about School for a while and I'm glad I listened! The candied bacon is to die for, I went for the Safe Bet which all also came with scrambled eggs, hash, greens and a biscuit. If you're feeling more adventurous, the Chicken and Waffles is also a solid choice. The atmosphere is very cool but unpretentious and the service is fantastic. I have a food allergy which was treated really casually but seriously. I didn't feel like a nuisance at all or that I was compromising on my meal. Definitely recommend.

Pretty good breakfast items! All creative, tasty, fresh. I like the atmosphere and concept of the place. The pancakes are sooo delicious and so are some of their savoury items. If you want a nice change in the typical breakfast go here!

This is a Lunch review. It is clearly a popular spot for those people who work in the area during the week for lunch and separately a Brunch place for those who live in the area.. The restaurant is cavernous, with high ceilings, the tables are very close together, and with the piped music the ambient noise is high. It is the opposite of a quiet intimate spot: it is a clattering efficient come in have a quick lunch leave, sort of place. The food is expensive for what you get. Nevertheless, it is good. We had an mountainous kale salad with Quinoa and walnuts. You would have to be a complete herbivore in order to get through it all. The avocado that came with it was large and delicious, perfectly ripe. They charged an additional two dollars for hot sauce, really? The chicken was covered in herbs and somewhat dry but well grilled. The leak and potato soup which was rather like brown sludge and arrived cold was mercifully taken away because it was cold… And we weren't charged. The service was very pleasant and enthusiastic as well as being efficient. On the whole, if you can go somewhere else, I would. But if you are going to eat there, then the best bet looks likes the burger and fries.
