Schlesinger's Steak House

A+ all the way. Starting with the pickles which are very very good, and I love that they don't fill me up before my meal. This was my husband's choice because he wanted meat, but my salad was delicious, loaded with walnut halves, and I ordered it with shrimp which were large, juicy and scrumptious. My husband reported that his steak was perfect and the taste he gave me confirmed it. The night we went the dining room was busy, and the room filled with happy voices that made for a very enjoyable evening.

Went there for the first time with my wife. We are new to the area (after living in NYC for 45 years), the parking lot on weekends was always jammed so we figured it must be good and tried it on a weekday to avoid the crush. The decor is 1970s suburban wood panel basement rec room style. that was meh enough, but the smell matched the visuals: damp, musty and smokey. Someone else mentioned that the smoking section was not separated enough from the non-smoking: I am guessing that the carpeting holds all the odors and you only need a little smoke to get in there. Why restaurants have carpeting is beyond me: spills no doubt happen daily, you likely need to shampoo-clean them daily, and the smells never come completely out, and then you have to contend with the cheap perfume odor of the cleaning agent. As for the food: the quality of the steaks were excellent, the seasoning and preparation were ... just odd, strange, not what I was expecting, though it was done medium well as I had requested. Don't go here for the deserts: phaaghitabouttit! Service was fine. Not likely to go back.

Scallops were delicious! Baked potato and bread were very good. Filet mignon was a bit underdone. Service was very good. Will definitely return.

Great place to hang out with friends. Both Jens they are the bartenders in the cigar lounge. They take good care of you.

The food and service was good. Yhe menue was limited but had good option. I gave it three stars because the smoke free section really was not smoke free. That's enough to keep me from going back to a place.
