The pricing is high compared to much nicer campgrounds we have stayed in. $26 per night plus a myriad of booking fees, and a daily fee for your vehicle. I've paid a daily parking fee for camping happily when the park I've attended actually had a park, but this literally had a campground and a boat launch on site. From what I understand the parking pass worked at other county parks that day too, but the nearest was more than a 20 minute drive away. We must have stayed in the old side of the campground because the pictures of a new beautiful restroom weren't at all reflective of what I experienced. The showers and restrooms were old and pretty gross, with mismatched poorly functioning fixtures and not a wheelchair accessible stall in sight, though I will say I appreciated that there wasn't the typical gap in the stall doors. The site was dirty, we picked up random trash from our site prior to unloading our gear, and kept finding more. The picnic table had rotted through, and appeared to have just been painted back together. The woman at the registration booth was the perfect "nice nasty." She was excessively condescending with a smile on her face. Also this park, and after some research, all of those in the county allow one unit per site, except for a small tent for minor children. This seemed strange until arriving there, we discovered that they seem to assume everyone camping here is in an RV. Despite the website stating that water and electric sites are available for tent camping as well, it seems that it this baffles staff and makes the other guests uncomfortable. I do not recommend tent camping here at all, as it appears this is an RV park / storage site, rather than a campground. There is no privacy from site to site, and they do not appear to have any regulations on how much junk the permanent residents are allowed to keep on their (and their neighbors) sites, or the condition it should be in. If you're in an RV looking for a place to store it that doesn't care how much rusty junk you surround your home away from home with, this is the perfect place for you. If you're a tent camper or anyone with standards, I'd go elsewhere.

Great campground. It was highly recommended by friends and family. Very quiet. The bathrooms and showers are kept very clean. Very laid back place. Nice playgrounds and shaded campsites. Good mix of campers and tent campers. Will stay again and even extended our stay longer because we were having such a nice time with the kids.

Sandy Beach County Park is a lovely campground with beautiful views. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, especially the man who helped us with our late arrival on a Friday night. We will definitely be back!

I have been organizing a camping weekend for my ski club friends for the last number of years. We love coming to Sandy Beach to camp and paddle the Muskegon River. It is peaceful with wonderful views of the lake. Clean bathrooms with hooks and multiple outlets. The new upgrades with the road and boat parking lot is nice. Cabins are lovely and very convenient with fridge and microwave.
