Overall for what we needed we had a good stay here. The beds were comfortable and AC was awesome. Our room was very quiet and had a fridge and microwave as well as an ice bucket. However, there were definitely some things that could be fixed for the future so that our stay is even better. There were 4 of us staying in a room. Only one extra roll of toilet paper and the one that was on the roll was 80% gone, so that was a bit silly as we were there for 2 nights. There were also not enough towels so I had to use a hand towel to dry off. The gym was very dingy and clearly had not been sanitized and the pool was freezing cold, clearly not heated at all.
Travelling with my two children. Stayed at the Sandman as we have done in the past when I was younger. Parked in the back. The rear door to the hotel scanner was broken so the door wasn't locked. Our room was immediately near the rear door. The deadbolt on the lock to our room was broken and the phone didn't work. TV was minor, but that didn't work either till the technician arrived. Couldn't fix the phone stating it was old and needed to be replaced. My daughter found garbage along the floor of her bed from previous occupant which indicated to me the room wasn't cleaned. Using the shower later that evening, there was hair on the corner of the shower. We were all exhausted and tried to sleep. With the door insecure, I didn't sleep well. Following morning, spoke to front desk who was very nice. Manager called later after we were on the road apologizing indicating that the room was taken off rental till deficiencies were fixed. I complained we shouldn't be charged for the room with the obvious cleanliness issues. Manager didn't do anything. Was charged the full cost: $250 plus. Contacted the head company and heard nothing back. Sandman, you lost my vote and shame on you for the customer service. We should have been immediately moved to another room after complaining and instead, ignored. Won't return and won't recommend your facilities. We travelled August 10-2022.
Rooms were clean and comfortable, a pretty standard hotel experience. What really made it awesome was Lewis, the man was so warm and welcoming right from when I entered the lobby. He gave me a great recommendation for pizza and always had a smile. Thank you Lewis for your excellent customer service.Rooms: 5/5
This hotel used to be nice. Last time I stayed here was a few years ago and now it looks like a SWAT squad came in and busted down some doors and a bunch of drunk people puked on the floor. I had to ask to see 6 or more different rooms before I found one that didn't smell like an ash tray or a moldy sweaty tee shirt. I finally found a room that was barely acceptable to stay in for the night but as another review I read says "the best western next door is looking really nice right now" like I said I have stayed here in the past but I don't think I'm ever staying here again.
Wow ! I don’t know where to start ! I don’t usually write a bad review unless it’s a chaotic experience. Made numerous mistakes we our booking over our 3 weeks stay. Keep asking money when everything was paid in advance. Even when we provide receipts of transactions etc. They take payments, don’t even link them to your room. Then tell you you owe them money, then showing receipts again and same things again and again. How is that possible ? Isn’t someone checking the till at the end of the day ? Like you take a 4000 dollars payment, you don’t close the invoice, you end up being + 4000 dollars at the end of the day and it doesn’t ring bells ? Always dealing with a different person at the front desk They are all nice but that’s about it. They are never aware of anything, or high or new. It’s insane ! I have never seen that. Causing a lot of frustration and stress to my partner. That’s not what you are looking for on holiday ! On top of that Hot tub, pool and gym closed ! Bus ticket to be daily collected at the reception when they used to have a printed pass with the length of stay. That would be ok if they were efficient at their job but every customer they deal with take ages ! Never again
Terrible service. Booked kitchenette rooms. Didn't get them. Cleaners all over the place but didn't clean our rooms. 2 pools and only one working but ice cold. Hot tub was warm. Front counter staff gave us keys only for the pool and not our rooms. We stayed for five days and not once did the cleaners come in to clean our rooms or change our towels. Washers and dryers on site do not work. Have to go to local laundromat
Sandman Inn in Revelstoke rocks! We were stranded there Christmas Eve on the way to Calgary and they were amazing. Lewis especially greeted us with such empathy and kindness...wow! Calgary's Sandman in the west was also wonderful, putting our safety over money and giving us a full refund with less than 24 hours to go. I will stay there again, hopefully under less stressful conditions.
We booked a King room with kitchenette. It was the outside access rooms. We drove through the night from Victoria, BC, and checked in late 1 AM. As soon as we entered the room, a thick scent of leftover cigarette smoke hit us. The room appeared to be grimy and dingy my partner compared it to a “sleezy motel”. The couches were stained. The drawers had dirt and crusted food. Looked like it had never been cleaned. The kitchenette is old, outdated, and rusted. The only thing that was clean about the room was the bed and bathroom thankfully. But we needed sleep so we just stayed the night. The next morning I told the front desk and they sent someone to come with a febreeze bottle to spray the room. It lasted a few minutes. So I asked if there was an extra room for us to change to. They later came back and offered a room change and gave us a smaller room without the kitchenette which at this point I didn’t mind. The newer room was MUCH better! It felt like a standard room. Nothing fancy. But at least clean! They also refunded us the difference for the room change. Overall, service was good and friendly. But I would be assertive and ask for what you need if you’re not happy with the room.
The room was dirty, crumbs in drawers, dirty dishes, floor was not vacuumed. Filthy under bed! Room smelled musty and foul - cigarettes and wet dog. Cleaning staff smoked right outside room. Guests parked their vehicles backed in and running to warm up filling the room with fumes. Items were missing or broken in room. Keys didn't work, lights were burnt out, fridge was broken and shower was cold. The only saving grace is that Lewis was an exceptional from desk manager.
I was told we could swim in both pools. I took my kids to go and swim and there was an “out of order” sign on one and 2 of the employees said we could still swim in it yet it was ice cold. So we went over to the other pool to go for a swim being told we could and again it was freezing cold my daughter didn’t even want to put her feet in it. They shouldn’t allow anyone at all to swim in it. Also the hot tub was more of a luke warm tub. When I asked for a discount when checking out for this I was given a $20 dennys coupon which was nice. The only reason we stayed at this hotel was for the pool for our kids. Highly disappointed and don’t think it was worth 331$ for two nights at all. Friendly staff but misinformed most definitely. Clean rooms other than that and comfortable beds.
