Square-cut pizzas, of course! Sammy's is on our must-do list of places to get to when visiting Winona. It's our historical meet-up place. The owner always stop to have a laugh with our family, I'm not sure if she really believes that my aunt has escaped from prison in order to get a pizza, or if she just plays along with our silliness. The pizzas are thin and crispy. The sausage balls are captured on top of the pizza with gooey melted cheese, served lava-hot from the oven.

Love Sammys. We've been eating Sammys pizza for decade and continue to do so any time we are in Winona.

Went there perhaps a little too close to closing and they were super friendly and accommodating. Got a family sized Iron Ranger pizza which was very good. Very stringy cheese, good peppertoni, and good sauce. They have 1919 root beer in chilled mugs, which is the best kind I've had. I heard from a friend that if you order anything besides pizza they don't make it fresh and instead microwave it, but I don't know what kind of person goes to a pizza place and orders burgers or cheese curds.
