Firstly, I would like to commend the service the staff offered and how kind and patient they were. My friend accidentally knocked his miso soup over but the staff were quick to react and helped to clean everything for us. As for the food, we ordered the ikura sushi, the Bamboo Star roll, the salmon oshizushi, the K-town yum, and the seafood yakiudon. The presentation of the food scored them some bonus points e.g. serving sushi in a huge boat but the flavour was too overpowering for me. The ikura sushi itself was just naturally salty so I couldn't really complain about that. However, I found the yakiudon and K-town yum to be overly salty. The yakiudon had great flavour but the saucy just was too dense and salty for me. This was also true for the K-town yum, a dish consisting of kimchi, scallops, beef and cheese over rice. Both of these dishes left me in desperate need of water. It was difficult to finish.
Great location, food, and presentation. Really nice sushi place with a cute wooden interior aesthetic that's super close to campus and the hub. Really loved the presentation of everything in large wooden serving trays and boats, it's quite a good dining experience overall. The price of the food is good and worth what you pay for, so it's better than some other places around that are further and pricier.
Pretty good, second choice spot for sushi in Kingston. Pictured is the deluxe sushi sampler - the hamachi in particular was delicious. The service was also extremely good.
Would rate it as one of the best in Kingston. Spacious compared to most sushi bars. Staff are extremely attentive and the quality of the food and ingredients seems to be very high. The inside of the location is extremely nice with warm wooden features on the walls. Seems to be often very busy due to its popularity so go early, but due to the size doesn't feel cramped. Lunch specials.are a good deal.
Excellent sushi. We were in town for a 160km bike ride and needed something delicious and nutritious for supper after the ride. Nailed it! I've had fancier sushi, but this was the best sushi for the price I've had in a while. High quality fish with a good rice to fish ratio. Definitely great food for a fair price.
This place is great, could very well be the best Japanese restaurant in Kingston. Although, there is one massive problem; I purchased a delivery of Cheese Age and K town Yum, both of them were yummy but there was no cheese. The menu said it was supposed to have cheese, oh and the soup tasted like watered down broth like the person that complained 5 months ago. This is so disappointing! You guys can do better, these are simple fixes. I would definitely post a picture in this comment but Google doesn't have that option.
The most exceptional Japanese food I have had and by far the best sushi in Kingston. The service is truly excellent. The atmosphere is open, welcoming and beautiful. Everything we have tried on the menu is as delicious as it is beautifully presented. Kingston lucked out with this restaurant!
New as of October 2016, Saka is immediately in the running for the best Japanese restaurant in the downtown core. We had the sushi plate #2 and the sukiyaki, both of which exceeded our expectations. The sushi was fresh and well-prepared. The sukiyaki was just the right amount of flavour, with tender beef. Price point is reasonable for the quality and volume of food and the staff are friendly and helpful. As of right now, easily my top choice for Japanese dinner.
Good service good food. Not too long a wait. The restaurant was nicely renovated
Great place to get Japanese food in Kingston. Food, atmosphere and service are all great. Music complements the wonderful service really well. They greeted me as I came and left. Waiting times were short and the staff were just friendly in general. I had the sukiyaki which was flavourful and fair in portion. I have to come back here again in the future.
