Safeway New Westminster Station

I thought I take a look around at this Safeway and see how it differs from the one in Chilliwack. Remarkably, it looks very similar in layout to the one where Mission used to be. This location has a lot of items you cannot find in other grocery chains like Save-On or Superstore. They also have a Starbucks inside as well.

If you order from the bakery, make sure you leave all your information including phone number, and instructions to call you if there's a problem with your order. I just wasted over a half hour waiting for the managers to track down two flats of doughnuts I special ordered over the phone, and they are nowhere to be found. They had to try deconstructing a pallet in the back to see if they had any there and the bakery staff just didn't bother getting them out when I ordered them. Nope, no luck. No trace of my order.nnDon't waste your time with this location if you can help it, the parking is atrocious at $4.50 per hour, and the service from front-line staff keeps sufferring ever since Sobeys took over Safeway's management. The managers did their best to help me find them, they looked for over half an hour like I said, but in the end I had to leave without them. Got some random shelf doughnuts instead so I didn't go home empty handed, but wish I'd had time to bring my business elsewhere after that waste of time and inconvenience.nnBakery staff, why did you check with the bakery manager and confirm you had them and take my name and promise to put them aside at customer service if I came after 4pm? And then when I arrived at 3:30pm, why was the bakery department staff-less and there was no note, no order sheet, and no doughnuts waiting for me? That sucked to deal with. Please do better when taking orders. I'll choose another location for bakery orders in the future.nnManager & Assistant manager, thank you very much for the apology and the free six pack of apple fritters. Not what I came for, but I'm glad I didn't have to leave empty handed. Saved this from being a 1-star experience, but still very bad timing for me. A teachable moment, perhaps? I hope so.

Nice and clean location, but the staff often make it feel like a burden to serve customers. I come here 3–4 times a week for lunch, and it’s consistently the same employees rolling their eyes and acting annoyed. If you ask for a sandwich that isn’t already pre made, they make a big deal out of it and push you to take something that’s already sitting there. It’s disappointing, especially as a regular customer. Friendlier, more positive staff would really improve the experience.

Watched a staff member remove frozen salmon from the freezer, open the packages and place it in the fresh fish section. The glass for the fresh fish display opens into the aisle and they placed the salmon under the glass. This is complete misrepresentation. If you don't get fresh fish, just close that section. Is all the fish/seafood in that section frozen? I worked at grocery stores under Sobeys that had fresh seafood delivery.
