I normally enjoy shopping at Safeway, but my recent visit left me a bit disappointed.nnTo start, the lady working self-checkout didn’t seem very friendly. She was glaring at people walking by, which gave off an unwelcoming vibe. I tried to ignore it, but when my son needed the washroom and we grabbed the key, I stayed right by the bathroom door waiting for him. Another young girl came by needing to use it, and I was just about to guide my son to pass the key to her. Before I could say anything, the same staff member firmly instructed him to hand the key over. While I don’t think she meant to be rude, it felt like she overstepped. I was right there as a parent and had the situation handled.nnThen, I bought a bag of green grapes. I knew they’d be pricey with inflation, but paying just over $19 for a bag had me expecting top quality. Unfortunately, once home, I discovered a large portion were black, mushy, and inedible. Really disappointing for the price.nnLastly, while not directly a Safeway issue, there were Scouts selling candy and chocolate outside the store. As we approached, a young fellow was leering from around the post and approached my 11-year-old son, not me, the parent, saying, “We are selling candy and chocolate over here…” It made my son really uncomfortable and hesitant to continue out the door once we were done shopping. It would’ve been more appropriate to address the adult, but again… not a direct reflection of Safeway but definitely made me, as the parent, uncomfortable as well to access the store when my 11-year-old son is being approached.nnNot the worst experience, but definitely not what I expect from Safeway.
Do you have any employees? 1 cashier at 630 Dec 17. Does this store have a manager. The gentleman on cashier was nice but didn't even try to get more help when the lineup was stacking up. Next to customers I counted 4 employees. So disappointed that shareholders are more important then the people actually buying your products. I used to do all my grocery shopping here. Until I noticed all the tfw's. Now I only shop here if I have to.nMerry christmas
Love-love-LOVE this location and the staff is what makes is such a joy to visit almost on a daily bases! And, i shouldn't say this as its gonna really hurt may chances of getting those KILLER deals at the start of each day BUT the Discounted Meats selection in the Meat Dept every morning...THE BEST! And Trish and her staff in teh Bakery...SOOO GOOD and fresh. Doesn't get any better really! Keep up the great work and helping with keeping a few extra $'s in our Pockets. Especially nowadays.
Safeway Lethbridge is always a pleasure to shop at. The store is clean, well-organized, and stocked with a great variety of fresh produce, quality meats, and everyday essentials. The bakery and deli sections are consistently excellent, with plenty of fresh options. What really makes the difference, though, is the staff—friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile to assist customers. Shopping here feels convenient and stress-free every time. Definitely one of the best grocery experiences in the city.
I’ve never had a more negative customer experience from any grocery store in my life. On December 7 I arrived around 15 minutes before close, hoping to pick a very quick ubereats delivery. While the young sir who was working in the produce section was very helpful, as soon as the store closed, the rest of the staff practically charged me down, demanded I pay for what i had in my basket and leave. It felt more like I was being accused of shoplifting. I tried to explain that I was shopping for a grocery delivery and I only needed 5 more minutes, but the older woman was incredibly rude and dismissive, repeating “we’re closed, we’re on the clock, you have to leave”. I can understand that my being there was an inconvenience, but I have never in my life been treated by staff in this way and kicked out from a grocery store. On top of that, the customer I was to deliver these groceries to, had said that a certain part of their order the soup was the most important to be delivered. I was unable to get this as staff refused to allow me. Such poor manners. I will definitely NOT be returning to this location for my personal grocery shopping, nor will I ever deliver any groceries through UberEats or any other service.
