A delightful meal and timely, discreet and kind service. We took a few more photos w/ permission from other restaurant guests. The two-person platters are a great way to experience multiple dishes and most people will find they will probably take home some leftovers ... we also enjoyed some fun tastings of Georgian wine. While we went on the early side, it was sad that the restaurant was not as busy as I remembered it ... I am hoping that most patrons don't penalize the restaurant and its hard working staff for all that is going on in the world right now.
Beautiful Russian decor and authentic Russian cuisine. I ordered all the recommendations from the waitress and the food was absolutely delicious. Great restaurant right across from the Chicago Art Museum. Saint Petersburg is one of my parents favorite cities in the world and eating here reminded them of all the amazing food they ate while in Russia. Highly recommended if you want to eat authentic Russian cuisine!
The restaurant has traditional Russian decor, sedate with classical music with a subdued and relaxing atmosphere. It is a perfect location for high tea or an afternoon lunch close to the Chicago Art Institute. Perfect for quiet conversation. My husband had the roast chicken Florentine and I had cream of mushroom soup both were delicious. Our server Catarina was very good.
They serve full means here, don’t be misled by the name of the restaurant. I came in cold and hungry so I ordered the mushroom soup and the duck. They waiter did tell me the duck would take 20 min so I should get a starter so I ordered the soup. The soup took 15 min and the duck came quickly afterwards. The soup was very good. Very good. Thank goodness I got the cup and not the bowl as it filled half my tummy space. The duck was nice. There were two duck legs not one. Mash, sauerkraut and omelette. I could do without the omelette- didn’t add much to the dish. It’s a generous portion and I couldn’t finish it. They gave me a box without a bag so I had to walk back to the hotel holding on to the box.
We came to this beautiful restaurant on a cold Friday afternoon. It wasn't busy. We were greeted by a very nice girl who checked out vaccine cards and then took us to our table. The entire place is spotlessly clean and very aesthetic. Even the bathrooms. We ordered the following: Chicken Kebab Shashlik $22 as of Jan 2022. It was very delicious. Grilled Chick Breast Florentine $24. Very tasty, especially the mushroom sauce.
A very elegant restaurant offering one of the best culinary experiences in Chicago. Its cosmopolitan yet traditional menu includes original recipes from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Moldova, a great selection of wines and spirits from the former Soviet Union countries, Europe and USA, served in a very tasteful setting. Russia Tea Time is a masterpiece, created and owned by a Ukrainian woman from Russia who lived in Uzbekistan and immigrated to the United States in the 1990s. Strongly recommend as cultural and culinary destination in Chicago, located just across the street from the Arts Institute.
The food was awesome! I got the Queen's tea service and the sweet vodka flight. The vanilla vodka was my favorite. The pickled herring is outstanding. Staff went above and beyond regarding service and presentation. I didn't have to ask for one single thing! They even offered to take photos of me. It was definitely a treat. I WILL be back with my two daughters soon.
One of my favorite places to dine when in Chicago. The borcht is outstanding, and I would eat it every day if I could! Unsurprisingly, the tea is excellent terrific variety! and the menu, a beautiful collection of traditional culinary delights from Eastern Europe/Central Asia that can rarely be found in the Midwest. Staff as delightful as the honey cake!
Loved it!!! We went for dinner. The service was nice and efficient, the decor was pretty, with nice ambience and pleasant classical music. The mushroom cream soup and croutons were incredible!! The salmon was also delicious, I enjoyed my Georgian wine flight, and my husband thought his Joe the Great cocktail was very smooth. Next time I’m definitely coming for afternoon tea service!
We just happened across the Russian Tea Time on our visit to Chicago, what a happy surprise and it's a woman owned business added plus!. We came in for the borscht and ended up staying for a Russian tea sampler. What a delight! You get a little a lot of many of their famous appetizers and entrees. We also had to add their traditional Russian tea and honey cake....sooooo good! The atmosphere was clean and elegant with classic music with attentive service.
