Great casual place to grab lunch and a sweet bun. This place has two restaurants in one. One serves the sweet rolls that are customary of the brand and the other serves Mediterranean food. The food is tasty, but honestly the bun is the real pull to come here. It is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and has a honey lining on the bottom. I would go for the original if you’re visiting for the first time. I haven’t had the others but I honestly think the chocolate and other options might change the flavor to something more mainstream and less unique.
Went here after a heavy workout day Referred by a friend, and loved to see what it has to offer in this spot. The food tasted good, and acceptable, but I didn’t like the fact they didn’t offer plates at the beginning. Like their Chicken Shawarma, and shish kabob Like their special Tea, and the pastry was okay but not my favorite. I would recommend to give it a try
WOW! Contrary to other reviews, I had never heard of this chain before I stopped in today. It’s hard to find spots in this area open on weekend afternoon/evenings. I ordered an iced chai latte and signature bun and I will be telling all my friends and anyone who will listen about that signature bun. It was just the right balance of sweetness, with a crispy outside layer that crumbled and melted in your mouth. The inside was soft with a little bit of melted butter. I would go in again and again for that bun. Honestly the best part of the experience was the atmosphere. Families and friends were enjoying their meals, taking their time and chatting lively. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind while I was figuring out what to order. I cannot recommend stopping in enough!
This is the best bun-maska I've probably had and I have had a lot. The buns are soft and have a crunchy crust with a buttery and soft inside. There are different flavored options available but my personal favorite is the classic bun, it's pure delish. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. They have a whole spread of breakfast including falafel and wraps which were also good. The karak chai is great as well along with other flavors like Hibiscus tea. A superb place to go and enjoy a nice breakfast.
Having heard so much positive about this spot, I stopped by with a few friends. All of us went for their signature drink, Karak Chai we got the combo. Karak Chai - It was ok nothing special. All 4 of us were a tad disappointed. Overhyped. Bun - This was the highlight. Definitely like they claim, it did taste like a world famous bun. All of us loved it. It could be a tad sweet for some. But, I would highly recommend their buns. *I would go back for their buns*. We also tried their Nutella bun. I would say, just go with their classic/plain bun. Falafel Side - This was good. Overall - I would say this place might be overhyped for their tea/chai as I've had better chai than their signature chai. Buns, just go for it! 3.5 would be my rating. It would have been 4 if only for a faster/better service. Their signature tea wasn't even freshly made, they had it in a flask. So not sure why it took that long. I might try their coffee next time definitely not their tea especially after disappointing signature tea experience.
Made to order buns with unlimited flavor combinations! Really enjoyed them with the karak tea. Highly recommend!!
Amazing place! The Karak tea & buns are sooooo good! Exactly like in Malaysia, Dubai and Saudi. But what’s special about this branch in Chicago is that they have great Middle Eastern food in addition to the tea and buns. We had the most amazing chicken Shawerma sandwich and Shish tawook platter. Incredible service and our server Yusuf was great! Highly highly recommend this place and will be visiting every time we come to downtown.
Neat and clean place, good price and helpful staff. Bathrooms are clean. The food is nice tasty. Try the iCloud bun thank you
I was super excited to find out that there was a PappaRoti branch in Chicago, close to where we were staying! I have been to a PappaRoti in Vancouver and loved their mocha! We went here for coffee and a quick bite on our last morning in the city. I had a mocha and we also ended up trying the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa was pretty loaded! The bun was good and fresh and the entire thing was decent. I was a little disappointed by the mocha, though. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It was just average. You can probably give this one a miss.
I had heard about this restaurant and planned to stop for brunch. Considering its proximity to downtown, parking was available at multiple places around the location. We ordered the karak tea with their signature buns. From the lunch platter menu, we ordered chicken shawarma, shish tawook, and falafel sandwich with sides of hummus, rice, and lentil soup. The quantity and quality was both beyond expectations. The chicken was absolutely scrumptious and went well with rice, pita, and complimentary garlic spread. This restaurant is a must visit when one is visiting Chicago and enjoy Mediterranean cuisine. Don't forget to grab extra buns for home.
