Fun park for experienced horseback riders. Non horse camping allowed in the upper area. Great park maintained by volunteers. Great ise of $10/night.
Great area for bird watching. Get to the park around sunrise to beat the crowd. Spent a lot of time at this park this spring off the trails. Found LOTS of turkeys in the surrounding woods near the upper campsites. I'd recommend going up the hill behind those campsites with your binoculars then just sit and watch the birds. Down hear the lower campsites there are lots of wood ducks that spend time in the the tree grove. Nice and clean area.
Absolutely beautiful and relaxing place to spend on a hot day with the family or alone...I like that the times I have visited it's not as busy as a beach by the lake
Good access to a decent sized creek, good camping spots. Great natural firewood, and I saw some horses cross the creek too.
Always a favorite for my dog to play in the river.
I love this place. It's clean. Its large and it's beautiful. It has a small fee , BUT well worth it.
I love camping here, it's usually quiet and clean. Sometimes there are other campers and they are friendly. The location is gorgeous... lots of trees and walking trails with a separate camping area for horses and a place for kids to play. There is an out house and running water. There are campsites with fire rings and picnic tables. You need to call Sibley county sheriff's office to let them know you will be there in case of emergency.
Long place to camp for free. Fire pits, picnic tables and outhouses throughout the grounds. A donation at the gate is requested but not required. A phone call to the county police department to let them know who will be there and length of stay is all that is needed. Beautiful wooded area with a peaceful river for fishing or swimming.
This is a site mainly used for horseback riding along a part of Rush River. The river is deep enough in spots for swimming, the constant flow keeping the water pretty clean and clear of debris. It's also a popular choice for local people to go Tubing down, keep in mind there may be a few fallen trees. It varies year to year
This park is really beautiful. If i didnt know better i would guess it to be a state park. Fantastic woods. Up on a hill and currently serving as the only entryway into Henderson thanks to seasonal flooding in every other lower elevation roadway. Its pretty wild to drive through at night in a rainstorm. Google maps has some difficulty providing directions because it prefers an alternate route that is closed but not reported as being closed.
