A green space to enjoy all year round. My first visit to this great park in ‘20 was memorable. A sunny October day that started off frosty but warmed up nicely. We’ve been back many times since. Huge sporting fields beside the pitch-and-putt golf course with nearby tennis courts, too. There’s a perimeter walk around the golf course with lots of green space views and natural features. The park was ifficult to find, even with with GPS apps. Go east on Charles St. and at the end is the Pitch and Putt parking and entrance. Enjoy!
Lots of spaces to explore…much bigger than you think including huge fields, tennis courts, and lots of benches. I also appreciate the shade from the beautiful trees. Pitch and putt is also apart of this park. Not too busy most days.
Rupert park is a very large park and is well known as a golf course but there is much more than a golf course. There is a couple of sports fields, tennis courts, washrooms, and playgrounds. There is also some trails doing a complete circle around the perimeter of the park.nnRupert’s attractive, open views create a wonderful setting for walking or playing in one of the sport fields. There is plenty of space for children’s play and picnics in the upper half of the park; or, slip through the trees on paths that open up to the ponds and rolling greens of the pitch ‘n’ putt.nHistorynnOnce destined for a shopping mall this uniquely located park was set aside for the public’s enjoyment in 1965. Thankfully, a dedicated Vancouver Park Board and a diligent community convinced City Council that the east side of the city needed parkland more than a shopping facility. Rupert Park was officially named in January 1967 and opened as the Park Board’s third pitch & putt golf course in 1971. Its main distraction was a major highway bisecting its rolling greenswards.nnIn 1995 the park was completely refurbished and the road removed making the property whole once again. New fields, a renovated golf course and redesigned fieldhouse plus a perimeter pathway give this neighbourhood park a multifaceted feel.
Street parking, multi age playground with swings, slides, and sand. No trash. No bathroom. No fencing. Street parking. No shade. There are benches, trails and large grassy areas. Not very busy. Clean. Dogs.
I absolutely love this park. There is rarely anyone here, I'm assuming because it's tucked in between the highway. The only drawback is people drink here and don't clean up their mess. Especially the old man soccer teams and their cigarettes butt.
