Went on the official tour which was very interesting. Too bad you can't take pictures in the plant. We went on the weekend so the plant wasn't operating as it would be cool to see it in action. Spent $3 (loonies only) and pressed my own coin with the maple leaf on the one side and the Royal Canadian Mint on the other. Nice souvenir. Lots of coins and coin sets for sale at the gift store.

I had to go on Saturday, when the presses weren't running. The tour is less expensive because of that. I advise you go when they are actually striking coins. I have a better appreciation for the change in my purse now.

It was so cool to be able to watch the process behind the striking of coins. In most of the building you cannot take photos and you're looking from behind glass at a distance, but it's super enjoyable. We had the opportunity to touch and hold a gold brick. Do it if you can! The self guided tour for only $2.50 is super worth it.

Good place to buy coins. Also watch for special events that are great for kids and adults alike. The tours are also available and are very interesting.

Seemed like the only thing to do in Winnipeg. Wasn't overly impressed. Did the self tour on a Saturday, which consisted of looking through windows down at factory machinery with no workers present and not being able to take any photos regardless due to restrictions. The highlight was the store which had tons of beautiful coins, and I picked up one as a souvenir.
