Ordered a large oxtail with extra gravy on my rice n’ peas and a jerk thigh piece to try their jerk. Oxtail was next level, Rice n peas on point with steamed veggies cabbage n carrots. Their pepper sauce was next level, proper scotch bonnet pepper mash. My gripe was the jerk. I could not taste any pimento whatsoever in the seasoning/rub. Not that the chicken was bad, it was good oven baked/roasted chicken. Don’t be afraid to add that pimento allspice. Give that chicken a good rub down marinate! Big up!
Wow this is the best curry chicken I have ever tried. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and full of flavour. The rice was fluffy cooked to perfection. I also had the coleslaw which was a great creamy accompaniment to the food. So happy to know I have this authentic Jamaican food close to home. I can’t wait to try all the other items on the menu.
Jerk chicken, rice and peas? YASSSS, PLEASE!!! first time in for quick lunch take out been craving this in my mouth & belly and have to say it was satisfying. Coleslaw could use some touch up or upgrade flavours but hey can't be all too picky when the main crave is the jerk chicken Friendly staff and quick wait, good portion too I say yum to this jerk
Curry Goat combo with Beef and Red Pea Soup. Goat was tender and had excellent texture. Not too many bones. The rice was cooked just right without being too dry or too moist. Curry flavour was excellent without being overpowering. Soup was full of flavour with lots of fresh vegetables and beef. Food was so good that I ended up overeating and didn't want any of it to go to waste! Good value and quantity! Highly recommended!
So delicious! We tried for the first time tonight and it didn’t disappoint! The food tasted very fresh and flavourful. The chicken is not too spicy, just right for me personally! We had the jerk chicken and stewed chicken dinner, both with coleslaw and festivals. The festivals are the biggest I’ve ever seen, and the coleslaw great! The portion sizes are HUGE! Will definitely be returning.
Very solid option. Does what you want Jerk chicken to do. Chicken was very tender and exploding with flavor. The rice was cooked correctly and properly douced in gravy. I would have given 5 stars, but the beef patties were relatively generic grocery store patties.
Ordered the Chicken Stew and the Curry Chicken dishes. Meat is fall off the bone tender, the perfect cook time combined with the perfect amount of spice and flavor. Served with rice and peas which are delicious and quite filling, and a vegetable medley cabbage, carrots, etc. I would recommend morr veggies, less rice per serving as these veggies were quite a surprise how good they were. I would definitely come back. And you should try this too.
We had the curry chicken and curry goat roti. Not sure where in Jamaica they put chick peas in curry but you'll get it here at Irie Jerk Restaurant. The roti for me was tough and the meat was too salty. They definitely cater to the non Caribbean crowd here in Barrie. I don't think I'll be returning. Don't forget your water! Enjoy!
I have been here a couple times and would say this food lacks flavor. Today i decided to give it another shot and Had the jerk pork dinner, food lacks seasoning and definitely isn't jerk. Sauce is more a bbq or something you would get from pulled pork. Honestly if this place were in the gta it wouldn't last. Can't say I will be back.
Normally don't review until I've been somewhere 3 times. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, had the bbq chicken special, very tasty. Update Tried the jerk chicken, small portion, dry and lacking flavour. Could be because it was not a special or just an off day. The rice was good.
