First time visiting this food place. Ordered the jerk chicken dinner, beef patties, jerk chicken patties. The spice level was very nice on the jerk chicken. Spicy but not overpowering. Be sure to call ahead to find out what is on the menu for that day. Everything is prepared fresh each day, so only a limited selection of items. Very good tasting jerk chicken. There is only one table to eat at this location, so it is best to get takeout.
Love that we have an authentic carribbean place on Dunlop again. He's so friendly , and the food is cooked fresh everyday. I have had the patties, curry goat , and jerk chicken so far. All were absolutely delicious. Can't wait to try the soup next !
So I had come to this place because it was close to where I work so I thought hmmm I should get some Jamaican food. My first thought approaching the shop was never judge a book by its cover I ordered a small oxtail with a patty and a sorrel ginger. The lady then continued to pull the food out from the fridge and microwave it, and that was when I started to feel uncomfortable about my order because they didn't have hot tables but I still wanted to give this place a chance. As I walked out with my bag it felt a little light so I looked inside to only see that I had two small pieces of oxtail and barely any rice and this is a meal that I paid almost $15 for I then went back to the restaurant asking for my refund and the server started to yell and scream that I wouldn't receive my money back. I ended up leaving the food at the restaurant without touching it and they still decided to keep my money. I don't mind paying for food but this was a very unpleasant experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone especially because of their poor customer service skills. Also when I had called back about the refund the same server threatens to call my work place and she told me she would file a harassment claim against me and at this point I don't even want my money back I just don't think people like this should be running a business, please beware of where you guys get your food from. There is a Jamaican restaurant next door its called one love island their food is amazing and their customer service is on point. Or you can try The Jerk Marshall Jamaican Grill its across the street from Patty Hut which is one of my favorites because they actually have a kitchen in the back of the restaurant where you can see the food being made fresh everyday. The owner of Patty Hut actually called me and told he would give me my money back and that it was no problem but once he saw my google review he told me he would never give me a refund and I told him I was okay with that as long as I bring awareness to the people of Barrie. All I have to say is save your money and just get your food next door. So I basically paid this restaurant $15 for air.
For a place that talks about freshness this is not what I experienced. Went at 5 on a Saturday night and got the patties and they were dryer then a popcorn fart. Got one beef and one chicken and I didn't know which was which they tasted the same and the beef ones I had to throw out they were so dry. Those were not made that day. Asked about the jerk chicken dish and was notified that all they had were patties left. This is my first and last trip I will ever be taking there. Very disappointing after the build up that I had read about the place. Don't waste your time going. You can buy just as good patties frozen from your local grocery store. At this point I'm hoping that I won't be sick tomorrow morning. So the reply said to just come back and they will make it up to me. Why would I go back when I've had a terrible experience. When I make a trip out of my way to go downtown Barrie on a Saturday night and get told all we have is 2 kinds of patties at 5 in the afternoon, I don't feel like I should then go back across town to try to let them make it up to me. Make it right the first time if you want repeat customers. Another thing I didn't like about the reply is that they tried to shift the blame onto the staff that was there, and make it on the heating of the patty. It didn't matter how the patty was heated it was "drier then a popcorn fart". It didn't matter how it was heated there was no saving it. I will not be returning to the establishment for them to make it up to me.
I don't know, for those people have been complaining about Jamaica grill sorry all Mac and cheese go f.... back to Macdonald and microwave eating,,,,,this place is amazing freshly and very tasty food was delicious absolutely delicious thank you .
As a Realtor life can get busy and I find myself always looking for healthy options. The Patty Hut always has fresh healthy food that never disappoints. I would highly recommend this to anyone in the Barrie area!!!!
