Riverwalk Cafe

They have one of a kind cuisine that is the Best Ever!!! It's been my favorite for many years. My children and grandchildren love it too. They serve Thai food but it is not extreme.......... the cashew nut chicken with sticky rice is what I like.....and the spring rolls. The service is good and so r the prices. Can't beat it. The locals like it and people from surrounding communities travel there to enjoy the food.

For a town as small as Lava Hot Springs, I was surprised at how good this place was. I took my family on a Wednesday evening. The staff was bare bones, but they were very attentive and happy. We ordered spring rolls, sticky rice, a few noodle dishes, and green curry. I felt like the curry was the best tasting of the items we ordered. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. And compared to the other restaurants in town, it is a pretty good deal. I plan on coming back next time I am in town.

Yes, this place is in an old gas station. Yes, the furniture is a bit broke off. And yes, it checks about every box why you would not want to "take a chance" on an eating establishment. I would not have risked it if it weren't for a referral from a trusted friend. But, wow! This place is the real deal! This is our first stop every time we're in town now. Do yourself a favor and take a risk on this joint. Then you can tell your friends that some of the best Thai food you've ever had was out of an old gas station in BFE Idaho!

I feel this place is overrated.. The food was fairly mediocre. I had the wonton soup, which was basically one chicken wrapped and thrown into a sad excuse of a broth that was hot water with no flavor. Followed by the Thai chicken fried rice. This was okay, but I honestly could have made something better at home with a recipe online. I also tried the Thai tea. Both myself and my family thought it was good, but it was overly sweet and needed to be watered down. The service was what really dropped the rating. The owner also appears to be taking orders, and he definitely doesn't seem happy about it. Everything my group said seemed to annoy him. The wait was fairly long and many got their food at a separate time, so some were finished before others even started eating. Overall I'd have to say we will probably pass and grab a burger next time.

There's a reason people travel here just to eat at the Riverwalk. I grew up going here and I've never gotten tired of eating here. Moreover, this place has ruined me for any other Thai restaurants. The food never disappoints. It's not greasy or Americanized. It's maintained its authenticity even after all these years.
