Lovely 1.3- 3 mile walking/jogging trails that wraps around the Deschutes River, with natural preservation areas, bridges, and a pier to view the ducks up close. Also, one stretch is adjacent to the dog park. Take caution in winter for some areas on trails are wet ,icy and slippery! A popular place for outdoor exercisers.=
Very well kept boardwalk, took the dog for a walk and was very impressed. Huge parking area, beautiful views, and felt like plenty of room to walk even with so many people out on the walk way.
I really like this park. Parking is adequate and available nearby. Easy access to the river. There is plenty of grass and open space for frisbee and a picnic as well as benches. The walkway loops around through the Old Mill and provides lots to see along the way. Good restrooms. Art to visit. I made some infrared images to go with this as well.
One of my favorite parks in a town which has the best green space use of ANYWHERE I’ve lived! Beautiful trails, all kind of amenities, picnic area, place for paddle boarding and sandy beach on the river and it’s only half a mile from my house and oh yeah lots a space for your dog!!
We floated the river from here. Park here and float, then ride back on the shuttles. Tumalo Kayak and Cascade Transit both provide service. You can rent floatation devices through Tumalo or bring your own.
I like this park. It's beautiful, of course! It's fun for your small children. It's a great place for a party or family reunion or something. My dog likes it. It's a little busy for my taste, but that just shows it's well liked. Check it out sometime, you'll think it's great!
Beautiful. Great place to go walk your dog, ride a bike or take a raft for a lazy ride. Just one of many spectacular locations in Bend.
Loved this location! There is a dog park on the North end and it's a beautiful stroll along the river headed south. Lots of open green space and a place to enter the river for kayaking and paddle boarding.
Fun place to put in on a very gentle float to Drake Park. You can paddle board or float on any inflatable device. They rent tubes and you can buy a ticket for the shuttle back from Drake Park. The rental company also has a very powerful electric pump to fill your own floatable if you don’t want to rent. The water is cold but refreshing. There is a man made rapid downstream at McKay Park and it is really safe and fun. It is a 1.4 mile easy walk back from Drake to Riverbend and probably is as quick as taking the shuttle on a busy day.
Critical start point for floating the Deschutes thru Bend .. park at McKay and walk or shuttle to Riverbend to start the 45+ min float to the white water at McKay and then be done or float on for another 45+ min to Drake and take the shuttle back to McKay. Shuttle is $5 to $6 for BOTH trips with you own gears or $25 for shuttle and tube and PFD rental
