Pretty and bigger-than-expected campground. Unfortunately it's quite noisy as we listened to trains passing and military operations stuff going boom boom boom most of the night. We booked late and had trouble confirming the reservation but the after-hours operator was helpful. No one told us check-out time and, in the morning, instead of swinging by and letting us know, the manager swung by, didn't talk to us, left a message on our phone instead, and then charged us anyway. We checked in and learned of the new charges on our way out of the campground. For $110 for a single night we left at 12:15 p.m.-- I'm disabled and sometimes slow to check out, but we could have hurried if asked. Sadly, this seems pricey and we probably won't be back. This park is challenging to traverse with a wheelchair short trails and roads are unpaved. Out space was large enough but not very private. This place has a lot of year-round residents. We saw families and kids at play nice. The "dog park" is too tiny to actually play ball with a dog--it could work for a tiny dog or maybe an injured one. So we kept our pooch on a leash.
This place is a hidden gem, depending on your spot… I stayed in row D and we had our own table and fire ring, with PLENTY of space between us and the neighbors. Row D had partial hookups only. I would say the full hookup spots definitely were tighter. Even had 12 ft bushes separating cars. Large park and playground across from us the kids enjoyed. Front office was staffed until 10 pm on our Saturday night stay. Would come again.
They cite 'Showers' under 'Amenities' and then surprise you with them being pay showers. That should have been disclosed up front. Also, the bathrooms are kept very cold. We have stayed in many RV parks and camps, and this one has little to recommend besides a playground for children and a small open field for pets, neither of which we needed. What we would have liked was warm bathrooms at the end of October and honest pricing.
Pros. Quiet- Beautiful Scenery- Tent Campsites on River- Office Staff Friendly- Cons. No hiking River isn't for swimming Fisherman are rude and will cast their line right next to you while you are trying to enjoy the water with your family. They seem to have boat patrols every 20 mins that go up and down the river . Camp Staff seem to also have hourly patrols throughout the camp ground. PSA- If you have a family and want to enjoy yourself next to a body of water then maybe take a day trip here and look around before making a reservation. If your in your later years who just wants to park your RV and cast your line in the river then this would be ideal for that kind of thing. Will be looking elsewhere next time ...
We have been here multiple times. It's one of our friends go to spot . So we usually go with any where from 2 - 4 other trailers / sites. This time we went it lower key just 2 of us. We got there and found out that the site we reserved the branches were too low for our rv . So our other friends had to cancel the spot next to us so we moved over to it . I had to text the office as they closed at 3 pm on a Friday. So I texted them and told them the situation. He said I needed to come to the office to sign new paperwork I asked nicely if they could bring it to the site as I have a bad hip . He said no he didn't have access to a company vehicle. So he then says come up to the office the next day.. to me it didn't matter if it was today, tomorrow next week I still have a bad hip it's too hard to walk that far. We did not have a car in tow with us this time . I feel the new management has left this campground down. We used to go and always interact with staff they would stop by our sites , we've invited them to our potlucks . This time was definitely different. 3 text messages they were closing early & we needed to call and finish paying & registering . It's sad it's come to this . I can't say we will be going back. It's definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. We will take our money elsewhere.
This was my third stay at this campground, and I loved it! Very good facilities, clean, spacious campsites, lots of riverbank to explore. Highly recommend staying here. It is just outside of Olympia so there is WiFi and stores within a short drive in case you forget something. There are outhouses all over and two larger bathrooms with plumbing and a shower!
We had a good time, but probably won’t go back. We paid $40 for a tent site which is fine, but $9 bundles of firewood for 5 pieces of wood that had clearly been recovered from fire pits partially burned, a woman driving around in a golf cart threatening to charge us another day when we stopped at the river access on the way out, and a huge party in the campsite next to us long after quiet time at 10 left a bad impression. Funnily, there are portapotties ALL over the place, instead of contained in a central location.
VERY loud campground and super inconsiderate people with music and base bumping all night. So so frustrating when you take your baby and toddler on their first camping trip. I give it two stars because the campground / tent sites are nice. We stayed on the river and it was beautiful but all the loud terrible music was so frustrating. I can see in previous reviews that this has been an issue. Something should be resolved. Ugh. We won’t be back.
View is absolutely astonishing. Only problem is there seems to be no rules with loud music. The last 3 times neighbors music is super loud at night and people yelling. The 3rd time we where a bit frustrated. It was very difficult to enjoy my stay with my family. Staff is great. I hope they work on somehow having to let campers know to be considerate of loud partying and music.
You can choose a spot in front of the running river for $45 or regular spot for $40 check-in after 2pm. It's $75 if you arrive earlier than 2pm for an early check-in if there's any spot available they have playground, dog park, paid showers etc. See my photos for complete maps and amenities. Dog friendly, but there are also permanent residents inside the site. Each camp spot has built-in bon fire and a picnic table with built-in chairs. River is cold even in summer time but doable to submerge. Campsite is gated, secured location. You can bring kayak, floatys, canopy, and your dogs in the water. I recommend this campsite to anyone wanted to dip in the river.
