Story

In May 2004, the River View Diner opened its doors to the communities of Montgomery, Oswego, Aurora and many other towns around the Fox Valley area. Eleno and Jose Silva brought to the area many, many years of experience in the restaurant business from Chicago.

A strangely Waffle-House-like experience in gastro-pub setting.  An enormous menu of typical diner fare (decent-but-nothing-special-food and huge portions at decent prices).  A wait-staff who seems to balance friendliness with brutal efficiency.  You're never ignored but there's not much chit-chat either.  The building itself seems new, is clean, bright, and well-kept, and next to what could be a very pretty river setting except for the busy road between them.  I'd definitely go back, knowing what to expect.

We were there this morning because it was one of the few places open for Xmas but will not be back again . The waitress named Veronica was very cold and not very attentive. The place wasn't even that busy and yet she barely came to check on us ... We waited about 5 minutes for her to even greet us and bring our coffee and water. On one occasion I actually got up to find her to ask for some mustard . She along with a couple others was standing talking by the bar area ?! The food was just ok ... for better prices , food and service we will stick to Benny's, Orchard cafe or even Select which is right across the street from us . I personally think that this waitress must be related to the owner to be able to get away with providing the crappy service she does . And by the way ... it doesn't cost anything to smile and say thank you !

Nice place. Clean, fast service. Food was as ordered and the service was on point. They can be busy at times, but that just means food is fresh...

Typical diner food quality. Service was mediocre at best.  Breakfast is probably the strong suite of this place. Great building, atmosphere and location are why they get a 4 star. I'll stick with Harners.

Great food. Tons of options. Menu is easy to read, very detailed about each dish. Only bad thing is the refried beans taste out of a can.
