Crusade Burger Bar

Saw lots of good reviews, so hoping our experience was a fluke... We waited a half hour for a table, only to be seated 8 feet from the front door. As it was 0 degrees outside, we were treated to an arctic blast of cold air every time the door opened. (No one seemed to mind we were eating with heavy winter coats on.) Waited at least another half hour for a couple of burgers, which were ordered medium, but came out well done. On the upside, our server was very friendly and helpful, and the sides and burger toppings were great. Might give them a second chance, but definitely not at the dinner rush. They CANNOT handle a crowd.

We’ve been here several times now and every time has been excellent. Unlike other places, this one has a menu where it’s hard to find something that you don’t want to try. The burgers are the highlight of the place and they are indeed tasty. With unique names like “You’re the One For Me Fatty” the combination of toppings are interesting and I haven’t yet found one that doesn’t work. The beef is juicy and tastes fresh. Important note: if you like your burger medium rare, you have to ask for it specifically else you’ll get medium. The sides are good - mu faves are the lemon potato salad and the hand-cut fries. Pay the extra dollar and get them with oil and garlic or hot sauce - it’s worth it. The beer menu here is extensive - I think I counted 30-odd beers on tap including local favorites and seasonal. They also have a full-service bar and I think I remember an extensive cocktail list although we mostly stick with beer when we go. Parking is fairly limited and this place can get busy on Fri/Sat so best time to come is for lunch or a weekday evening. This place is a great addition to the old Downtown strip of Yorkville and part of what looks to be a nice revival of the area.

Amazing place to eat. Started with a order of cheese curds and moved on to wings. Both of which were Great! After that had a customized burger and it was simply amazing! Only downside was the wait for the burgers but was well worth it!

We've been here on 3 separate occasions in the last couple of months. Good: 1. Burgers are fantastic. Very fresh and a good variety of different types with different ingredients. Beware the spicy Buckaroo burger. That sucker's got kick. 2. Cheese curds are the best we've ever had. Even in Wisconsin. So good! 3. Good variety of drinks. Beer menu offers several choices. Mixed drinks are tasty and unique, not your typical menu, good options. 4. Cool goth-lite theme with cool, good looking, very nice hosts and servers. Not so good: 1. Mixed drinks can be a bit weak. 2. Kind of expensive for a burger. 3. Loud metal music playing in the back room. Not good metal. Thrasher, head banging noise. Ugh. I know I'm getting old, but that music was obnoxious. 4. Tables by the front door really feel the cold draft during winter months. So, overall, this place is worth a go. We have enjoyed it, even though last night was my least favorite visit due to the music. The company that owns and runs this is expanding in the same building with another restaurant that will open soon.

We visited a few weeks ago and the food was excellent! My husband had the duck nachos and I had the Sweet Nectar of Life chicken sandwich (so sad that was a weekly special, it was amazing - PLEASEEEEE add chicken to the menu). Portions were huge, server was attentive. There were several large televisions to watch the game, and my husband was particularly fond of the music. We will definitely be back... maybe next time we'll split an entree so we can each get one of those GIANT milkshakes!
