River Roast is a fantastic Chicago staple restaurant right next to the river. The food is great with the whole roast chicken being the best. Worth the 40 min wait. DO NOT skimp out on your veggies! We ordered one of each veggie sides and all tasted great! NOT your mom’s bland steamed carrots!
Eating on the Chicago River is a delightful experience. I chose to grab lunch on one of the hottest days of the year at River Roast. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Beware: the portion sizes are very large. The RR Chopped salad with chicken is packed with flavor and a fun array of accompanying vegetables. However, I felt like I was eating an entire bag of roman salad... I paired the salad with the asparagus. It was delicious, but again, I feel like I was given two bushels of asparagus. For dessert, I ordered the key lime pie. The slice was a super size me size, it was bigger than my hand.
I enjoyed myself here! The food was delicious and the scenery was even better. We ate outside even though it was chilly outside they had the heaters on which was perfect. We had the whole chicken which was so good and they carve it for you as well. The burger was so yummy as well, no complaints. The whole chicken does take a very long time so u might need to wait patiently and get some cocktails. I believe we waited 40 min to 1 hour for our chicken. Overall experience 10/10.
Our server Ena was a very lovely person she provided a remarkable service and the food was of best quality especially the roast chicken it was crispy from the outside and tender from inside had a perfect balance of juices and savory flavors. The potatoes were also delicious. We also ordered chicken fried sandwich which also scored every bite was delightful. I’m glad I went to this restaurant want to go back again in mid summer. Highly recommended!
Very nice and clean place. Expect to spend about $45 per person with alcoholic drinks. There was plenty of space between customers. Service was great. Selection was eclectic. If you're not walking there you'll have to pay for parking next door. We got there a little early for the valet although they do off the valet and believe it was 15 dollars. Did you check at the front desk for vaccinations and ID that match. We felt very good about that process and very confident in the people we were around. The four places that check. We recommend this place.
Great restaurant overlooking the river. Nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. Food was delicious and portions were huge - check out the chocolate cake photo. Come here hungry!
Great place for brunch !! Big portions, tasty and a very nice river view. We went for brunch and ended up very satisfied until late evening. I think it’s kind of a tourist trap though, because it’s expensive for what you get. I found the menu somewhat limited, but once you decide you probably made a good choice.
This place is where you go!! It’s absolutely incredible - Get the whole of half chicken! It’s delicious. The portions are very good here. If you are vegetarian or just like veggies along with you meal, the squash is amazing!
Beautiful spot on the Chicago River. We came in as a group of ten and found the food and the service to all be top notch! The roast chicken, pork, and fish were all a huge hit for shared entree’s but don’t sleep on all the amazing appetizers and sides!
Staff was super organized, we got there and were escorted right to our table. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating. My girlfriend and I had the steak and eggs, macaroni, and chilli. Everything was delicious.
