Pleasantly surprised that we were able to be seated earlier than our reservation, even though it was a busy Friday night. The waiter was thoughtful by asking if we had time constraints for a show. The bread was just ok and the cold butter was hard to spread. But the pasta was amazing. It’s made fresh each morning and super flavorful. We enjoyed the vodka rigatoni with Italian sausage and mushrooms. And the squid ink seafood pasta. Excellent and fast service. Highly recommend.
After watching a play next door at the Goodman theater this was the nearest restaurant and they had a table available but it was reserved so we were limited to an hour to eat. We took the table since parking was paid for already and it was near. The place takes you back in time and it is well taken care of. They have drawings of people on all their walls, Our server was friendly and accurate with the order, the food came out fast as well. The food was ok, the drinks were better. They do have a large menu so perhaps other items are much better. They do have outdoor seating and the restaurant is easy to find since it is on the corner.
Old Italian Chicago style restaurant. The food was excellent, great flavor and filling portion. We ordered fish of the day Mediterranean sea bass and chicken limone. Service was average. Kitchen was a bit slow for chicken and fish, pastas salads and soups seem to come out quicker. Price range: 20$ to 50$
Visited this restaurant on a Monday night after Zoo Lights. The restaurant was really nice and well lit. It was quite empty considering it was prime dinner time 7:30pm, but I'm assuming most people are still getting take out / delivery. Being from out of town, we didn't really have that option. Our server, Frank, was very attentive and did a great job explaining the menu and recommending drinks. Unfortunately they were out of a couple different things I attempted to order. The Matinee martini was really good. I small Caesar salad and chicken Parmesan, which was cooked really well and was crispy and tender at the same time. We also couldn't decide on a dessert, so we ended up with 4 of them. My favorites were the lemon tart And the Italian cookie gelato.
The food, cocktails and beer were delicious. Our waiter was also wonderful. I never had an empty drink. We had the shrimp as an appetizer.I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my fiance had the white fish. We had their brownie for dessert omg so good! We Definitely will definitely be back!
Amazing service, lots of option to select from and the server is kind and friendly. We tried the tomato bisque soap and the eggplant Parmesan, both dishes were flavorful and we especially loved the creaminess of the soup, and the service is also quick. I would recommend this place.
I was in town on a business trip so flying solo. Sat at the bar and Jesse was my bartender/server. Let’s just say this place is absolutely LEGIT! I asked for a bourbon pls fashioned - sweet, and Jesse suggested a Wisconsin Old Fashioned - ding ding ding we have a winner! It was awesome. Then to the menu. Nice varieties and options - I went with the shrimp pesto risotto- well these four shrimp were massive and perfectly cooked! The pesto risotto was lovely. Served hot. Garnished with spring mix. Accompanied with bread and whipped butter. The ambiance was casual yet classy. Located next to the theatre so lots of people dining and pre-drinking before the 8pm show. Menu prices were reasonable considering the prices nearby from the competition. I will be back - and I highly recommend this restaurant. Great experience.
We had a wonderful evening at Petterino’s. We had a reservation for 5 at 9:15PM on a Friday evening. The restaurant was still packed. Our service was great. Our server was helpful with the menu and picking out a wine. Our group ordered many different things from the menu and all was above par. I had the Lake Superior Whitefish and was it delicious! Will definitely be keeping this place on our list of where to go while downtown.
I have mixed feelings about Petterino’s. I come fairly often since I am a member at the Goodman Theatre. If I don’t reserve a table, there’s no chance to get seated on a Friday or Saturday night, but I’ve been turned away on a Wednesday before. If I’m on my own, I sometimes get lucky and score a seat at the bar. The service is always fun - very friendly, downtown-vibes for sure. Food is good. Prices are pretty high: my calamari Appetizer and gin and tonic last night cost a whopping $40+tip… inflation I guess.
I’ve been twice in the past week. Very good food and excellent service. I’ve sat at the bar both times and the bartender was super helpful and so efficient and hard working. The food was very good. I had Angry Salmon one time and today had Calamari. Mmmm. Also I HIGHLY recommend the limoncello martini. I rarely drink alcohol, and this was such a treat. Really delicious. The restaurant has interesting decor with all the caricatures on the walls. The bathrooms were sparkling shiny clean. I am so excited to return soon.
