Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge was a clean facility with friendly staff. It was easy to find and access. Family member had a good experience with their scheduled procedure.
I gave birth to a child at Ridge Meadow Hospital, and all the nurses here were so kind.nEven though I lacked English, the nurses were so kind and took good care of me, so I'm going home well. I'm not sure how to express my gratitude to the nurses because I'm not good at English, but thank you all so much, and I think it will remain a good memory in my family.nThank you all from the bottom of my heart, and I'll always pray for you to be happy and full of good things.
I recently visited the ER at Ridge Meadows Hospital after experiencing chest pain, and I was impressed with the speed of the initial service. Upon arrival, I was promptly attended to, and the ECG, X-ray, and blood tests were quickly administered, providing me with a sense of urgency and care.nnHowever, the only downside was the wait time to see the doctor and discuss the results. Despite the efficiency of the initial tests, it took nearly FIVE hours to consult with the doctor as there was only ONE doctor attending to all the patients. However, when dealing with emergency, especially late at night, every minute can feel critical, and a shorter wait time for consultation would have been greatly appreciated.nnOverall, the efficiency of the initial services at Ridge Meadows Hospital's ER was commendable, but there is room for improvement in reducing wait times for consultations, considering the workload on the lone attending physician.
Not enough communication with the patient and family. My dad went in on Monday and 5 days later we've heard from the doctor once.nnBy fluke I managed to come for a visit while the doctor was there and got some information.nnWhen dad came in he had a GFR of 9. That's pretty darn scary!nnOur whole family has been beyond stressed and dad is left in the dark wondering what's next.nnA little communication goes a long way when it comes to a loved one's health.nnThe only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the staff has been great.nnDESIGNATE SOMEONE TO COMMUNICATE WITH PATIENTS AND FAMILIES!!!
A few months ago I had to take my wife to Emergency due to excruciating pain in her abdomen. It was so bad she could not sit still & had to rock back & forth to deal with it. To cut a long story short, over the next two days we spent almost 14 hours there, between ER; getting an Ultra Sound, [the next day], & going back to ER for the results. The BIGGEST issue was the LACK OF COMMUNICATION. I totally understand the place gets busy & the poor nurses are run off their feet but I am afraid to say that is not an excuse & it certainly isn't the layman's fault. There is NO reason why someone can't be responsible to keep patience informed what is happening on a consistent basis. It doesn't have to be the Doctor, [God knows they are run off their feet as well], but SOMEONE should be. I hate to always be the one who feels like a jerk because I have to chase someone down to get some answers. On a good note, after an 8 week wait my wife had her surgery & is now on the road to recovery. It is sad it had a bumpy journey to get there.nnI am glad we have our own hospital & personally I have not had many bad experiences myself so I am not sure when it comes to other family members I am there with the results are SO different. I often wonder how most of the nurses & Doctors really feel about the bad reputation the hospital has. I blame the upper echelon & Fraser Health for the lack of staffing to be able to give the best results. I realize there are budgets etc to deal with but being a tax payer & knowing we contribute to the overall costs of things in one way or another I can only say again that is not our fault. If they would hire more staff to combat the communication issue & wait times, [& perhaps to do some more upgrades/reno's], I feel we could be a hospital to be reckoned with. I mean WE have our own MRI machine, that is no small fete.
