Ricey Silo
"The idea of “Ricey Silo” was born out of an enthusiasm for great food and culture. In Yunnan China, we appreciate the fruits of our nature. After years of continuous preparation and improvements, now we are excited to serve you a bowl of Yunnan’s authentic crossing-the-bridge noodles. We invite you to join us on a cultural food expedition to taste our fresh and timely prepared ingredients, served with a base broth made by simmering quality chicken bones for up to 10 hours, then cooked with our chewy rice noodles at your table. We serve our noodles using nutritious ingredients, leading to a result that requires little seasoning but is extraordinarily tasty."

A friend took me here to try the best rice noodle. Apparently this is what she called the most authentic Yunnan Rice Noodle place in Toronto. I ordered the signature noodle soup. The soup base is tasty and light, love the crunchy deep fried meat pieces inside which gave it a good meaty taste. The side dish portion is small but just right to go along the main meal. We ordered the spicy potato slices, just loved the spicy sauce!
It is my first time visit today Friday. I had a short waiting for a table for three. Appetizer is in a very small portion. Hot bowl noodle is extremely hot and the soup base is tasty. However the tomato soup base which is a bit too thick. Server is fast and efficiency. Table turn over is very quick. Noodle price is slightly higher than other hot bowl noodle chain store, but it is worth to try. Parking is always hard to find during weekend in this plaza, underground parking is available.
Interior environment is nice and comfortable, they have their own unique style compare with other rice noodles restaurant. Me and my friend ordered two flavour of rice noodle, mine is original one with nine small dishes put into big bowl with rice noodles together. The taste is good and fresh, but not special. My friend ordered tomato with brisket, she said it’s tasty. Brisket is soft and easy to chew, tomato soup is strong which is definitely recommend by her. Small dish for the lotus slice is really authentic, the chilli oil is spicy and smells really good. Already came to this place many times and tried different types of rice noodles. No doubt food was good. However, services need to be improved. I understand it’s a new restaurant, hopefully will be better later.
Pros: - Inside is gorgeous and clean! The decor is very aesthetically pleasing and the music is traditional and instrumental. - Complimentary lemon water - Amazing broth! Not as salty as the ramen places I typically go to. - Unique presentation and interactive component of placing every ingredient into the broth - Fresh-tasting ingredients Cons: - Pricey, especially the side dishes—we ordered the spicy cold sliced beef jerky and thought they mistakenly gave us a small taste was good but $13! - Wagyu beef portion was small - Opt for the soup noodles, my tofu ground pork noodles was flavourful and I enjoyed the soft tofu, but it was too salty/spicy the sauce was more like a soup which overpowered everything
Newly opened in mid-late March 2022. Located where Le Viet used to be in Commerce Gate plaza. Decor is pretty. Comfortable seating. Friendly staff, food came quickly within 5-10 minutes. Ordered 1. minced pork tofu rice noodle: noodle is good, soup is light, not super strong flavour but good. Lots of ingredients 2. Pork stew rice noodle: noodle and flavour is good. If you are in commerce gate and have a craving for rice noodle, it may be worth it to check this place out.
Me and family came to this place because we found out it served Crossing-The-Bridge noodles! The food was great; the Crossing-The-Bridge noodle was delicious! I had the Australian Wagyu A5 option, so it was a little bit more expensive. The meat was mazing, but the dish itself wasn't super special compared to the other restaurant we went to. The noodle bowl itself was very good. The atmosphere and service can be improved on, but overall it was an OK experience. If you're around the area of Commerce Gate, it was worth to try this place out!
We ordered the Tomato beef stew rice noodle soup and the soft tofu minced pork noodle. Atmosphere was nice and very clean, with friendly staff. Tomato noodle soup — the beef was very flavourful, but would’ve liked a bit more flavour in the soup. Soft Tofu minced pork noodle — Tofu was very soft and fresh, a bit of spice in the sauce but very flavourful. Warning for those with nut allergies: almost all the noodles contain peanuts.
Heard a lot about this little noodle place. It’s modern, clean and comfortable inside. The food is great and prices are reasonable. Will definitely go back to try the combo which we saw a lot of people were having.
We were debating on going to the Kinton next door as it was our usual but felt a bit spontaneous, so we walked into Ricey Silo instead. First time trying this kind of style for noodles, was pleasantly surprised. The waitress recommended their “classic original” noodle and the soup was tasty and hearty. Each noodle comes with a variety of toppings that you add in separately when your boiling bowl of soup arrives. The portions are huge and prices very reasonable. These noodles are almost like a cross between pho and ramen, definitely a “healthier” alternative to the typical kinton style ramen. I enjoy the balance of meat and vegetables. We also tried a variety of side dishes, the spicy and garlic ribs were very good as well as the fried tofu. The cold spicy potatoes I was not a fan of. The restaurant was clean and decor was beautiful. Service was excellent, all the servers were friendly and helpful, filled up out water as well as provided us extra napkins very promptly. When our soup came the waiter also took the time to teach us how to assemble our soup. I loved the experience and highly recommend giving this place a try!
Very fast service for a big bowl of hearty noodles. About what you would expect for Asian rice noodles. Good flavor but could use a bit more meat. Very prompt in refilling our water though!
