Had valentine's dinner. Nice byob restaurant downtown. A slow Sunday night. Got the fried calamari which complementary bread and butter for appetizers. Mains we got veal with gorgonzola cheese with mushrooms and pasta. Then the baked lasagna my absolute favorite. They had one server for everyone in the room as with covid we were at 50% capacity. Service was average due to the lack of staff. But food was fresh and hot on arrival. Great dinner experience if you like to have a few bottles of . Until the next time.
We came a few years ago and had a good impression which led us to come back in 2022, and unfortunately we were quite disappointed by the entire experience and quality of the food. There was little to no ambiance, the taste of the food was somewhat average nothing really stood out. We were 4 and agreed on a 3.5-star rating. We ordered the following: «Cesar salad» & «Fries Calamari» as appetizers with the soup and salad that came with the daily menu, and for main courses the «DIJONNAISE mussels & fries», « Fish of the day - daily menu», « Piglet with potatoes and vegetables - daily menu * which definitely was not piglet but rather old super dry pork meat», «Cutlet Parmigiana». It’s nice to have a BYOW concept but when the food and overall ambiance disappoint, it’s unfortunate.
I love that this is a bring your own wine and beer spot right on crescent next to a ton of Montreal’s nightlife. The average plate is about $23, the mussels sauce could be creamier, but overall the food was good. Lovely ambiance and kind staff.
Honestly the most disappointing meal I've had in years. I used to like Académie because it's bring your own wine, but my experience after coming back after years is that the quality has significantly gone down. I came to l'Académie on Crescent on a Saturday evening for a birthday party, the waitress was nice but the food was tasteless and extremely disappointing for the price. They don't give you bread anymore, I ordered the veal with Fettuccini and it was 50$ after tip and tax. The veal had the texture like someone chewed it and put it back on the plate, the sauce was bland, I had to add a lot of parmesan for the pasta to have a taste. Do not eat here, you can definitely get a better meal for this price.
This was a very nice restaurant we were a decent-sized group so I'd understand why the service was slow. My friend and I ordered a salad and it was most likely the worst salad I've ever had I'm sorry to say. It was clearly old and unwashed. But having said that the waitress was extremely nice and understanding and gave us both our salads for free. Considering I'm not rating on how nice the waitress was ill have to chalk this up to a two star unfortunately. Get better it wasn't that busy. Also, give me a break with this painting on the ceiling.
Classy and relaxed ambiance, great service, great French and Italian cuisine. We had the Table d’hôte experience and brought our own wine! Highly recommend for a special occasion.
We happened upon this this gem on a Sunday evening with a party of 6. The owner George, And the delightful server Courtney, were friendly attentive from start to finish . They directed us to the nearby package store as it is byob On thier reccomendation, We had the mussels amd fites Provençal and also the mussels in Dijon crème sauce. Also had the shrimp pasta, ravioli, bolgenese and the chicken pasta. Everything was very wonderful, It was a perfect cap off For our last night in town . It is a real gem! A eatery with a heart
Very ordinary place, i saw just one guy as staff at least he was very funny guy, food is yummy. Good point: U can bring your own vinesto the restaurant. If u go there don’t expect too much, go just for food, ‘i gave 4 stars just for foodies’
Lovely resturant in nice area! The service was very good, food was extremely good! No alcohol available BUT you can buy whatever you want from nearby shop.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal! Had the soup with lentils and veggies, delicious. The yellow tuna with broccoli, carrots and rice, finger licking good, the best! Love it! Great service too!
