Red Roof Inn Elkhart

The property was in a sketchy area, the hotel across the street clearly had people living there. The parking lot had a van that looked like someone was living in. We did not feel safe. There were no smoking signs everywhere, but cigarette butts were all over the ground. The room smelled of urine, stale cigarettes and must. The ceilings had dust and cobwebs all over. The walls had orange rust looking dried looking drips from the red painted wall. The bed was hard and not comfortable at all. The comforter had a large, yellow spot. The picture online that I based my booking on completely misrepresented the actual room we received. I felt filthy. You should be ashamed of a facility like this.

I stayed 3 days. There was a plastic bag wrapped around the shower head. I guess to keep it from spraying everywhere. On the afternoon I was leaving, I was told that my wheelchair isn't allowed on the property and I am not allowed on the property. Called the police, filed a report, called ADA and my attorney. I have friends there and was letting them know I was going across the street. The rooms are rough, cable is barely cable. No rooms on ground floor unless you work for the trucking company. Employee's are rude. Needs a paint job inside and out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND RED ROOF!!! Especially if you are handicapped. According to staff I should just stay home. Looks like friends write the reviews. The picture on web. That room, that nice & clean.... Doesn't exist

I went to the O Daylight Inn next door and paid for it non-refundable. It was so gross that I left and went next door to The Red Roof Inn.nnMichael was extremely helpful with his customer service and got me a nice room for not that much more than I paid at the O Daylight Inn.nnI check every hotel thoroughly for bed bugs and hidden cameras. None were found. The bed was very comfortable and clean as well as the rest of the room. There were tons of power outlets. Everywhere to use - even 2 built into the front of the microwave! The shower was a little small and the shower head was a little low. But, for the price I paid, I really couldn't complain about that!nnThe entrance to your room is outside. So in the winter, there's no enclosed hallway to get to your room. There is no complimentary breakfast either. I did not look for amenities like a pool or anything. So I can't comment on that.nnThere is a room with vending machines, ice machines, washers, and dryers downstairs near the front desk.nnThe neighborhood is pretty ghetto and there were lots of sketchy people riding bikes and walking around late at night. But no one bothered me or my vehicle.nnThe hotel extremely close to MacDonald's if you need. It's also about a 2 minute drive to Walmart, Ross, and a bunch of eateries.nnOverall, for the price, this place is great!

This is a 2-star MOTEL with no more than Minimal Service. Common indoor space is limited to the Lobby and Laundry.nProperty upkeep seems to be adequately keeping up with most efforts targeting the tasks of basic mechanical maintenance and the continuation of practical cleaning practices and a small percentage of upkeep is applied to property improvements.nThe staff is somewhat rigid in their tolerance of disturbances and tends to immediately reel in instances of problematic guest behaviors in turn making the comfort of guests a priority.nThe rooms are basically cleaned, not sanitized, and somewhat comfortable.nI would recommend it for singles and couples for short or extended stays but not so much for family needs.

Location was convenient enough for the road. Room was clean but it smelled. Hand soap dispenser fell off the wall in the middle of the night. I could hear the squeaky faucet turn on in neighboring room.
