Rainbow Restaurant

Food all around place. Good portion size for price. Others seemed happy as well.

This may come off as mean spirited and that's not my intent, but based on our lunch today I don't think we'll return to the Rainbow Room. First, though, I thought our server was very nice and efficient. The place was also nice and had a small parking lot. The problem was the food. We tried their Herman Melville which was chicken chips with a dip. The chicken was basically flattened chicken fingers and the dip was cream cheese with some large chunks of onion in it - too large. You couldn't dip the chicken into the dip though as it was really solid cream cheese. The real problem was the sausage pizza. It had a very strange smell something close to old gym socks. My friend and I had a slice each and then stopped (even though we were very hungry). Within an hour both of us had to visit the bathroom and heave. I don't think the pizza was spoiled, but there was something really not good about it. My wife had a cheeseburger she said was good, but the homemade chips were a little soggy in spots and not at all salted. The cole slaw wasn't - it was cabbage in pure mayonnaise. I know a lot of other people like the RR so I'll just chalk this up to perhaps an inexperienced person in the kitchen, but it still wasn't a good visit.

Love it here. Great food at a good price and friendly wait staff.

We went here for lunch on our trip to Pittsfield and we were blown away! And we were blown away first it's very rare to find smelts on a menu, but they were actually perfect! They were exactly as I remember them being on Christmas Eve with my family. Then we had the bacon and gruyere cheese dip and it blew us away! We also had the calamari and we were very pleased with that as well. The wait staff was very nice and very accommodating we can't wait to come back up here to visit and come back to this restaurant it was absolutely fantastic!!!
