I suggest the coordinator of Art Culinary Program point out the students about food safe and customer service. I could see a double mistake happening at the Cafeteria. The student was serving my soup while speaking and laughing very close over my soup. She was not using mask. If mask is not mandatory anymore, it is okay. However, when I saw she doing that, I politely said: I'm sorry, I don't want anymore. I don't feel comfortable eating this soup because you are not using mask and speaking /laughing over my soup." She answered "okay". I just left disappointed because I was hungry and had just 30 minutes to lunch. So, after 5 minutes I went back and asked a slice of pizza to other student. The previous one came and started laughing saying: "You don't know how they prepare everything inside the kitchen". If I was feeling unsafe to buy that soup, after hear that, I - client - would not trust on VCC Cafeteria anymore. And she kept going saying "I don't have to say sorry, I have the right to live in Canada". OMG, I did not understand her point. Really. I think she is just a very young person that need to learn more about customer service and kindness, because she tried to give me more lack of confidence to eat anything in VCC cafeteria. I could ask her chef/supervisor and complain. But I don't want to harm her. I think how much opression she suffered in her life to say that sentence "I dont have to say sorry. I have the right to live in Canada" . Yes, she has the right to live in Canada and I hope she learn customer service to get a job and keep employed. I'm an immigrant as well and deserve the right to refuse a meal if I'm not feel safe eating it. I just want to register my review for the Art Culinary Program to highlight to the students about food safe and hospitality/customer service. And, yes, politness since Canadians say "sorry" !
Honestly, I love some of their food. I never had a previous poor experience with them. The customer service is polite and respectful. Unfortunately, I was disgusted when I saw one of the cooks grab a serving tray for customer use. They used the tray to make my food, and one of the chef told them to NOT use the serving tray because it's for customer use. But they proceeded with making my order with the same customer tray. The same person who took my order, who was not wearing gloves - touched their paper and pen, and the serving tray, then proceeded to touch my food without their gloves. The person who was not wearing gloves and was shaking the open tip of a sauce bottle with their bare finger then put the sauce on my food. Regardless of Covid or not, I am disappointed in their lack of concern for food and health safety. I understand some of the staff may be in training, but food safety is one of the most important basics.
You're missing out.
