At first I liked Dr.Kopec I felt as if he was actually there to help me. I was wrong. Once he got me started on medication I had a follow up visit(they were well aware of my insurance type before I started services & I still paid a fee every visit) the next visit he completely misguided me! Told me he's no longer accepting my insurance(I have 2) and gave me other suggestions in Tacoma area. Frankly, all those patients looked drugged out and I was looking for REAL HELP. (I couldn't even take the trazadone he prescribed. Too much) He also LIED in my release of information & it looks like something I would create for a school project.(I'm 19). Also I do smoke weed occasionally and had no problem quitting, (I DID quit. my literal mental health depended on it?!?!?)smoking cannabis IMPROVES THE BODY NOT MENTAL. yet said I was not compliant with his orders to stop. Shame on you liar!!!

He's a perfectly normal psychiatrist. One thing that separates him from others -- he doesn't condone the use of marijuana for the mentally ill. This has a huge affect on some, as you can see from the negative reviews here. I promise that every negative review was written because some kid couldn't handle being told to stop smoking. Whether you agree or disagree with the idea that sobriety can create an environment in which the mentally ill can find peace, please know that Dr. Kopec is not "abusive" or "manipulative". He is more of a doctor than he is a therapist, so don't expect much coddling, but he is capable and present, and for that I am thankful.

Very cocky doctor. I was asking my family's opinion and he told me "i don't have to treat you." I have the right to ask for second opinions and input on my mental illness. I don't appreciate threatening me with not treating me especially when i need outside help. I would not recommend the $110 dollars for 20 minutes for the knowledge of this ((NURSE)) emphasizing nurse, practitioner...

To start off, I would strongly advise against seeing this doctor. You will leave more stressed than when you arrived. I have an extensive back ground with psychiatrist and have been on several medications because of a few diagnoses. I spent at most 15 minutes with this doctor, barely touching on my past issues where he brings up my use of cannabis. He told me some pretty outrageous things that cannabis can do like making me psychotic and making my anxiety and depression worse than what it is. He clearly does not know anything about cannabis, as I have never felt any of these issues while high on it. I have had mental issues since I was 7 years old and have been on various medication since then. I only started smoking cannabis about 4 years ago and have seen no change in the anxiety or depression while intoxicated. AGAIN, I have had my mental health issues since 7, and when I am on medication I can live a normal life. However, according to this guy, all of my problems are from cannabis, THAT I STARTED SMOKING 4 YEARS AGO. I just wanted to go back on medication, not have an aggressive talking too about my cannabis use and end up leaving with more stress. Every doctor I have seen in the four years of smoking cannabis has known about it, and never once have I had a negative response regarding my use. I know it has it's problems, but cannabis is not why I am a psychotic mess. Dr. Kopec, I suggest you study some more about this topic.

Dr. Kopeck is organized, caring, and well educated. He is not afraid to discuss difficult things with those that are suffering. This can be jarring, but also refreshing as to those seeking help, because they are treated like they are in control of their desicions. I am thankful to have Dr. Kopeck in my life, even if the meds don't always work.
