Franciscan Hospice

I am currently here at CHI Franciscan Hospice House. My aunt, whom has been like a mother and is very dear to me, was transferred here from a local hospital after her condition worsened. With a broken heart, the reality of her illness and injury has become imminent. Upon arriving, her nurse and CNA gave her a bath, new linens and made her so comfortable. They promptly gave her meds to make her most comfortable and then explained the process to me. As hard as it was to hear, it was delivered in such a warm and caring way that I was actually comforted. In the time that we have been here, I have seen a facility filled with staff that are not just here for a paycheck, rather, they care for others and it definitely shows. Aside from the excellent care provided by the long list of staff here, they provide places for the family members to take a "time out" if needed, providing snacks, delicious soup and crackers, hot and cold beverages and kind words and smiles! The end of life for a loved one is a part of life, itself. We should all hope to be treated with compassion, dignity and respect throughout the process. This place has been all of that. I would recommend this facility without hesitation to a loved one or stranger in fact.

My husband recently passed away in this facility and I couldn't thank all of them enough for their amazing and outstanding service, from volunteers to nurses to social workers everybody has just been amazing. They took care not only my husband but all of my family even after my husband passed away by offering emotional support and just knowing that we can rely on them if we needed anything. They are compassionate to their patients and very attentive to their needs. So to all the staff of Chi Franciscan Hospice thank you all for your service!!!

My dad's nurse gave zero help on his care and what we should expect and be prepared for and never mentioned a comfort kit to help the process. She was always snippy and rude and we never felt like his care was her priority. We had to Google and ask friends what to do and how to care for him.

My mother spent her last days here in 2010. The level of care and caring shown to her and the whole family was amazing. Since this experience, I have spoken with several others who have had loved ones in other hospice facilities. In no case did their experience turn out as nicely as we had here. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers!
