Providence Oyster Bar

Charming place! Or first time in Providence we wanted a really great seafood experience. We got it! I wish I had more room. We had the NE clam chowder, rich creamy with big chunks of clam and potatoes, I had the halibut which was about 2" thick and cooked perfectly. We also had the bacon wrapped scallops and a California roll.... With Alaskan king crab!

Seven of us celebrated a birthday lunch Sunday at the Providence Oyster Bar and the experience was terrific. From my first contact setting up reservations with changes, Matt and the team were spot on. The valet was great upon arrival, service top shelf and food was delicious. We had Filet, Scallops, Fried Oysters and baked seafood casserole to die for. We have been before and certainly will be back. Thanks for a great day!

Seafood was fresh and delicious and service was exceptional. From the greeting of the host to getting our first cocktail...great experience! Going to make Sunday happy hour a regular event.

Get there between 3pm-6pm for the "Appy Hour". Everything on the bar menu is $6. One of the best I have been to anywhere. Bartenders are professionals, can talk you through any drink, add or remove ingredients to your preference. For example, this Manhatten served perfect, dry, and with my choice of cherry.

Made open table reservation for 2:45 knowing the restaurant serves lunch menu until 3. We got in the restaurant at 2:45 or so and was told kitchen switch to dinner menu at 3 and refused to serve the lunch menu. I got excited about some of the items on the lunch menu and was looking forward to it. They have exactly same items on the dinner menu but they pretended they can't make it for lunch because kitchen switched to dinner menu. Spoke with the manager on duty at 3 and she told me she had no way of knowing if we came in before 3, when clearly we were speaking with her staff before 3. I don't usually leave bad reviews but it was a very disappointing experience, not to mention we drove half an hour just to get to the restaurant and then spent 15 minutes looking for parking. It was my first time going to this restaurant and will not be going again!
