Providence General Surgery Clinic - Hood River

The facility and office are fine. There's coffee and magazines in the waiting area. Wait times to be seen weren't bad and the staff were friendly and attentive enough. But due to my failed stomach surgery just 6 months into recovery, I cannot give Providence Hood River Surgery Center a glowing recommendation. This was a $50,000 surgery that cost me 10% of that amount out-of-pocket. Not to mention the stay in the hospital and a month away from work. Now, here I sit, in the doctor's office of the Oregon Clinic, getting ready to start this whole long and painful process over again.

We are over the top grateful to Dr. Wiseman for finding the source of a horrible 6 month physical ordeal. Every day for those 6 months, I suffered the worst diarrhea imaginable. It would come on with no notice and was violent in nature. As a result, I suffered soiled clothes and even surrounding areas walls, floors.... Awful... I went through tests, saw 3 different doctors and tried all kinds of medications and alternative health ideas plus an intense probiotic regimen -- nothing helped. After having a horrendous "accident" in the Dollar Store, I decided I wasn't going anywhere ever again until I was cured. Dr. Wiseman conducted my colonoscopy and even though it looked "fine", he knew it wasn't. He was extremely thorough including one other testing and biopsies. The very day he got the biopsy report, he called us announcing "I know what it is!" and he did!!! It was something that could only be found by biopsy under a microscope. He wanted to look over my medications list before prescribing...20 minutes later he called us back and called in the prescription. We picked it up immediately and by that evening, I knew I was better. I am writing this 8 weeks later and am happy to report I have been perfectly well ever since. It meant so much to my husband and I that Dr. Wiseman went beyond just doing a colonoscopy but wanted answers! He really cared about this! He called even before he did the prescription because he knew we were anxious. Dr. Wiseman - and all at this clinic have treated us wonderfully. This is a 5+++ star rating!

I am deeply saddened hearing that this wonderful Dr lost his life on the mountain today. He was the very first Dr and only Dr that has ever taken the time to explain in detail and show pictures of what is wrong with me. It took 6 years and he explained it all to me in one day. I was scheduled to have a procedure done by him tomorrow morning. My heart goes out to his family. I am so very sorry for your lost.
