Awesome breakfast! Deb and Sue were amazing! Kristi wasn't very professional and complained a lot even though she wasn't our server. We were close to the counter and could hear her complaining the whole time. When we came in she wasn't very willing to accommodate us so the 2 times we were there we were very happy to have Deb as our server!

Growing up in the restaurant business with my grandparents, Sherm & Gerry Hart, who owned the Skylawn for so many years, I know how to treat and respect your customers. Here is something I have read and know is essential to owning a restaurant that I would like to pass along. “Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends.” -Walt Disney. 1.) When problems with food or service arise, not only fix the problem, but offer something free. This can be in the form of an immediately free meal or a gift certificate to come back. When you give them a free round of drinks or a dessert, you’ll initially incur the cost, but you’ll find it’s repaid when they return the next time and the time after that. 2.) Customer disputes are bad for business when they aren’t handled quickly and efficiently. When your diners have problems, they’ll leave happier if you solved their problem with an acceptable solution. You’ve not only earned a loyal customer, but you’ve earned one that will do your marketing for you – for free! Think word of mouth referrals, social media shout-outs and online reviews. 3.) Respect goes a long way in issues with customers. Put in the effort, and you might find they leave happier. My best friend and I were having lunch before we had to get ready for my brother's wake who had suddenly passed away the week before. She and her son were starving having left home so early to make the trip up so we decided to stop here to catch up and eat lunch. She ordered the fish sandwich. I had walked by another table where the woman was having fish and it looked delicious, with a golden deep fry that when I got back to the table I mentioned how jealous I was that I didn’t order the fish. When our meal came out, which I have to say took longer than normal being a 2 plate table when they were not very busy, we saw that her deep fry was very dark and burnt. When she broke open the sandwich to see the fish in the middle, it was dried and inedible. Since the fish I had seen earlier looked delicious, we know that this was something out of the ordinary and can happen to any restaurant. And because she was very hungry we looked for our waitress to return the sandwich. After a bit when she didn’t come back we motioned to another waitress and explained how sorry we were but it was over cooked and she couldn’t eat it. When the waitress asked if she wanted another, my friend opted for the turkey sandwich instead which we thought would be the quicker option. Soon after our waitress brought out the check. As we were finishing up and getting ready to go, the waitress came back apologizing profusely that she needed the check back because her manager was making her charge us for both sandwiches. Both of our jaws just dropped. We both grew up in this business and had never ever heard anything like this before. The waitress apologized again saying she was so sorry and that she had never had to do anything like this before but she had no choice. I told her that it was ok. I apologized to her stating “I am sorry that your manager has put you in this very terrible situation.” We were very flabbergasted and couldn’t believe she was actually being charged for this sandwich which obviously could not be eaten. We both wanted to just pay and leave since in our personal grief, did not want to start an argument or have a confrontation with on obviously incompetent manager. I have attached some helpful tips above in the hopes that this business learns from this mistake. There are enough struggles in this business without making more on your own.

For me, eating at Pine's Cafe was fair, to say the least. It was small and cozy, good waiters, a little confusing on the layout. I don't know what the full experience is because I only went there once and my mom and dad are (kinda) afraid of the place. Only time I went there was when my grandparents were visiting and we decided we were hungry for whatever was in front of us. I have to admit, wasn't disappointed. I'll leave another review one day, when I have more experience with it! Toodles! -C
