We camped in loop A, number 5, for 4 days from August 24 thru 28. This is the most scenic location we have ever camped. The trailhead to Pine Creek Falls is in the campground and it is a beautiful walk. We were there for a wedding at the adjacent Luccock Park Church Camp and it was an easy walk down to the wedding site, photo included. The campsite hosts were very pleasant when they came by to warn us about the bears smelling cooking orders if we were to use our grill. However, a warning. We were towing a small car behind our 34 foot class A motorhome. The road up to the camp is about 2.8 miles from the highway along the Yellowstone River and it is very steep and narrow. There are a few pull offs but it was a white knuckle driving experience going up....coming down was easier. With a smaller camper this is a world class camping site
Our family had a wonderful 2 nights tent camping here while in Montana. The creek was very close for casual messing around, and there are a few great trails you can walk. We hiked the trail to the Pine Creek Falls, and though we felt it was a challenging hike for us as not exceptionally active people, we all made it in about 3 hours round trip from our camp site, including a lot of time exploring the falls. We saw a variety of wildlife both in our campground and while hiking. Mountain lions and bears are occasional visitors here, bring your bear spray and hike with at least 1 partner. Vault toilets were some of the nicest and best maintained I've seen. My son, who normally complains about them, never made an issue about using them.
This campground was everything we could've hoped for. The views were beautiful, the sites private, and the vault toilets clean. The only part that was a little nerve wracking was the fact that there had just been a bear in the campground, but that just adds to the adventure, right?
Nice quiet campground. Sites are big and private. Hosts were very kind and helpful. Would go back in a heart beat. Was removed from the main road and access road was narrow but paved.
Busy with people. Must reserve sites months in advance to camp. Feels like a local spot reserved for outsiders. Carefully drive the road in, a lot of people race the road and there are many blind spots.
Campsite itself was fine, just the road to get there was super narrow. Speed down, get there after the check out &/or in time. You can't pass 2 trailers there at one time, someone has to reverse trailers. Otherwise, campsite is good, well maintained well set up. Good fire fit!
A beautiful treat in the wintertime. The piled high snow in the lot may be difficult for some vehicles, but parking further down can help. The outhouse was also open in the middle of December, which is a plus.
We have always loved this place. A lot of outhouses, great 1 mile hike up to the falls, or a nice short walk along the creek near the campgrounds. They have a covered structure for large groups to have a day time get together with outside grills bring your own charcoal!.
This is our 2nd time up this month and it's all beautiful country in and around Paradise valley. There's also a National Park TV campground at the trailhead. We're planning to stay here next year for a few days.
One of the most beautiful sites in Montana. No electricity or water, pit toilets but still great. First come first served worked for us. Great camp hosts this year.
