It is a great gem of a place to spend an afternoon there. The staff and volunteers do a great job and if you have kids in your group there are a lot of fun things to keep them engaged while learning about how early settlers lived and their lifestyle. They have a busy calendar with tons of different activities. When we visited they had a solve the mystery activity for kids with a prize if they got it right. On the 17th of June we were there with kids and were asked to go indoors because of lightening. We were in for a while and were particularly impressed with a staff member Eamon (he is dressed as one of the characters). Eamon did his best keeping the kids engaged while we were indoors waiting for the all clear. Eamon brought out toys for the kids to play with. He came up with riddles for the kids to solve. He kept the kids engaged and we are grateful as the kids had started getting restless. Great job Eamon! The entire staff at the Museum is great, friendly and welcoming. Always a good time there.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, that really give you a glimpse of how the land was settled and the lives that pioneers led. I have been to other pioneer villages that were larger but this was the most informative. We tried ice cream made as the pioneer would have and made rope and wood nails. Definitely something interesting to do with your family.

I've been visiting the Pickering Museum Village for nigh on a quarter century now, and can honestly say it is definitely the place to go if one needs some schooling in the lessons of the pioneers, the place to go if one wants to enjoy the fresh air along with some fresh baked scones, and definitely the place to go if one wants the feeling of actually living in a time period before cell phones, internet, fast cars, and the daily stresses we feel in the 21st century. Staff are wonderful, polite, and fun to talk to... Great place for weddings, photo shoots and birthday parties. My choice for a museum in Southern Ontario.
