Following the high rating on Google I made my way to this inconspicuous little gem in the Quadra Village of Victoria. It’s easy to pass it on the street so keep looking if you miss it first time. The food is some of the best I’ve ever tasted. I got there in time for happy hour and tasted two amazing appetizers for $8 total. One was made from only chickpea flour and deep fried to perfection served with a delicious spicy sauce. The second delicious piece was grilled pork belly. The flavour was fabulous. I ordered the Kalettes veggie main course and again the flavours didn’t disappoint. Rich and unusual while being amazing. My server strongly recommended the chocolate dessert which I cannot say enough about. It was sweet, salty, creamy and decadent without being overpowering. Overall the meal was 5 star. The vibe of the place is calm and smooth while being friendly and relaxed. I will definitely be back.
I want to come back to Victoria just for this restaurant. Every single dish was fresh, delicious, and a unique combination of flavors. Food came out at the perfect cadence and staff was super attentive. We ordered 2 smaller plates and two of the larger ones plus a dessert which was a good amount for two hungry athletes. Also plenty of gluten free options! This is a BC farm to table style restaurant you don’t want to miss.
Overall great experience! Started with a condensed milk shaft that I absolutely loved and every dish that followed was great. I ordered the pork and the texture was perfect, very soft and dissolved in your mouth. The broccoli and the cheesecake were also super tasty. I ordered three dishes to share, one cheesecake, and one cookie and it was more than enough for two people so I recommend sharing. Service was great, we sat at the bar and they were very attentive and helpful when explaining portion size etc. I would definitely recommend this place!
Good food, nice staff, and cute atmosphere! Probably more ideal for groups between 2-5, though I'm sure larger groups can be accommodated for if you come early enough. No on site parking, but it was easy to find a spot around the block. However, I do agree with another reviewer about prices. I didn't mind it because I enjoyed the food in the end, but, for what you get, the price does catch you a little off guard. Would still recommend going here at least once, though!
Rice and Pickles bowl, with fried chicken. Peanuts did not smell like they were freshly toasted, but instead had a musty aroma. Rice was clumpy and not well washed/cooked/fluffed. Pickles were okay, chicken had great texture in the batter but seemed pinkish and the seasoning had not penetrated throughout the meat. Food was served warm but not hot. Mediocre at best. Service was good, atmosphere close to perfect. Overall a disappointing experience due to the food.
I had the Kamut chicken sandwich and the fancy grilled cheese and I must say both of them were amazing. I love the bread they use. Grilled cheese has grilled artichokes and other fillings with sourdough bread so it is not just a boring grilled cheese sandwich. The waitress was super nice too. Def visiting again to try out the other menus.
Everything is cute. I had the fanciest version of grilled cheese and tomato soup I could ever imagine, and it was DELICIOUS. Good value for the good food. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Too bad it's surrounded in a couple of my fave places. Hard to choose what to eat!
Creative menu with more veg options then we could try - loved everything we got. Gourmet quality despite the unassuming, casual-friendly atmosphere - trust the reviews, lives up to expectations. Vegetarian options: Plenty of veg options
Delicious food with an intimate atmosphere. The Kamut chicken slider and the wasabi fries were unexpected highlights. There definitely were more blistered peppers in two orders than four people could tackle, so I’d start with one order next time. The pork belly bite had amazing flavours but was more of a jerky than other pork belly dishes I’ve had before. The Parisian gnocchi main was delicious but extremely heavy - we thought it might have been deep fried. Fun little place for a girls night out.
Went in for lunch today. Place was packed but was seated right away. Ordered fried chicken sandwich and girlfriend ordered charred brocolli sandwich. Mind blowing flavor. We will be back. Service was fabulous .
