Panes Bread Cafe

This is the place for a cozy, quality sandwich spot! The inside is warm and colorful, and carried a fragrant scent of baked bread with a nuance of frying bacon. There is a lot of indoor and some outdoor seating. There are many varieties of sandwiches on the menu, but the bread is definitely the star. The bread from this cafe is noticeably fresh. The outer crust is lightly crisp and crunchy, and the inside is soft and airy. There is a subtle sweet and savory nuance in the bread itself. I would 100% pay just to eat the bread plain! You pay at the counter and they bring your order out to you. After you finish eating, you bring the basket up and dispose of the trash. There is also a dispenser for water at the front as well. On top of that, the staff is wonderful. There was a woman working when I went maybe the owner? and she was so lovely, I definitely need to catch her name the next time I stop in. All in all, Panes Bread Cafe is a must-try.

Incredible. You can tell it’s family owned by the dedication to the craft. The bread was so fresh and delicious, same with the rest of the sandwich. And the chocolate chip cookie was irresistible, you could taste the quality of the butter and chocolate chips. Great meal for a fair price, can’t wait to go back to breakfast. Verdict - would go back & recommend.

Their ham and cheese sandwich is top tier. The buckeyes there are also a must, also, south American inspired sandwiches and confectioneries. very fresh bread. even the simplest rolls are excellent. try their weekend brunch. this is the only restaurant chili I've tasted that is not salty. call ahead for their daily pasta and sandwich specials. cash and check only.

Panes is easily one of the best small business restaurants in Chicago. Every bread they bake, every sandwich they put together, every item available is extremely good. They have had to raise their prices over the past couple years, but you are still getting a great deal on the quality. I usually order pickup by dialing them directly they don't do apps. Cash, check, or card both swipe and tap are all accepted. On a busy lunchtime the wait could be up to a half hour, but usually anything is ready in about twenty minutes. Big shout-out to the tomato bread; pick up a loaf to take home!

My favorite Angel hair pasta! I've gone there for years since Panes first opened. I tried and enjoyed everything on the menu! Fresh baked bread desserts sandwiches soups pasta guarantee you'll love it. Top Chicagos Best!Food: 5/5

I had the turkey-turkey sandwich. The tomato bread on which it was served tasted more fresh and flavorful than any I've had in the past. It was my first time there as I'm not in the neighborhood that often, but I'd definitely go again. The food is not assembly line made, so expect to wait a few minutes depending on how busy they are.

A true neighborhood gem for breakfast weekends only, lunch and dinner. Their food is consistent. It can get busy but is worth the wait. What sets them apart is their service. We didn't realize they closed early before Thanksgiving and we were hoping to pick up a dessert treat. 10-15mins after they closed, rather than ignore us as they were cleaning, they re-opened to let us purchase the treat. We need more places like this!

Great Atmosphere! Food is amazing! I love their daily specials! Sandwich Special #1 Quick with orders and haven't messed up on take out. Oh and don't forget your sweets! Monster Cookies always makes me a happy one! Must try!
