My wife and I tried this new spot in Portage Park recently and loved it. Originally we ordered via grubhub and the food arrived fast hot and right. The bluebird cheeseburger is one of the better cheeseburgers I’ve had at a great value price. While I’ve not tried everything I do know that the truffle macaroni is sublime as are the sweet potato tots. I went back for lunch today to discover they have a nice seating area both inside and outside patio area. I found that bluebird was clean and I liked pretty much everything about Bluebird. It’s nice to have a new higher end feeling place here in Portage Park. Feels gourmet without the gourmet prices. I think it should be on your must try list, you won’t be disappointed.
As I wrote in my review of their Clark Street location last year, a great burger is truly hard to find. Plenty of places have a good burger, but maybe the patty isn't seasoned all that well, or perhaps the bun falls to pieces after the second bite. We all know about Au Cheval, The Loyalist, Mott St, and a handful of others. Well, just like its other location, Bluebird in Portage Park truly deserves to be added to the list. Everything here is very, very good, from the layered and plentiful elote, to the rich and creamy mac and cheese. Even the sweet potato tots are above average. And again, this is largely due to, beyond technical skill, fresh ingredients and great seasoning. The Bacon Jam Burger is wonderful, the perfect balance of flavors and textures on a bun that holds up until the very last bite. Absolutely loved it. So why not 5 stars? The slight tick down is for the dining experience inside the restaurant, which I must admit is pretty lackluster. Maybe they're still trying to figure things out, but it's a fairly cramped space that doesn't feel super inviting. Maybe it's the lighting, maybe it's a slightly inattentive wait staff, but unless you're sitting at the bar and even then?, I think you're probably better off with takeout. Still, let's end on a high note: this is absolutely one of the best burgers in Chicago!
After spending time at "Spin Art Nation", the family was hungry, so we walked down the street and came across Blue Bird. This is a nice restaurant to grab something to eat. While the food was nice, it wasn't unique. You can get a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and Po Boy anywhere. It wasn't memorable, but the experience was nice.

Ordered the Bluebird sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, elote, duck fat fries and the mac and cheese. Both sandwiches were good with the bluebird being the superior one. Elote was good as well but a little too wet with sauce and cheese not really visible in pictures. The mac and cheese wasn't great and the fries were just okay. On another delivery I ordered the Smoked Gouda Burger that was wonderful. I also tried the Pajaro Verde sandwich from the exclusive item munu but it wasn't very interesting. Overall good sandwiches
Best burgers in Lakeview! We had the Gouda burger and duck fat fries as well as the Mac n cheese and patty melt burgers. These burgers slapped. 10/10 will be back. Trader Vic’s punch was also great.
Bluebird is one of my most favorite food places in Chicago. The food is consistently fresh and amazing, staff is wonderful, and they have a cute dining area. COVID has made things weird no dining in but when I call to place an order for pickup it’s ready in 15-20 minutes. I’m obsessed with the California Club make sure to get it on a baguette! The way all of the flavors/textures of this sandwich come together is pure magic. Their truffle fries are delicious and don’t get me started on the cheese curds - super tasty and you get a good sized portion for the price!
It was the best burger I have had in years! The pesto pasta was so so, other than that, I highly recommend. I'd definitely will be back for more when I visit Chicago.

So glad we stopped in here. We were looking for a bite to eat and this space popped up as it was on my "want to go" list. I got the smoked gouda burger with duck fat fries. Everything about this was great - juicy, flavorful, and did not break the bank! He got the bluebird chicken - i don't know what they do to make it so smoky and juicy, but it is now a favorite. Splurge for the cheese curds - they are worth it. We loved it was byob for a small corkage fee, but if you run out - they have a full bar with tasty margaritas!
