Owhi Campground

Unfortunately I arrived too late to get a spot here, but the grounds are absolutely beautiful. Next time I will make sure to get there Thursday or early Friday. The lake was so blue and clear. The individual sites were not quite as secluded as some other descriptions led on... A few of the sites were further up and surrounded by bushes, but wherever you camp it is likely people will constantly be walking by. One thing however that irked me were the types of people there. And this has nothing to do with the actual campsite but I must say: HIPSTERS are ruining WA camping everywhere!!! Almost every campsite was full of hipsters and guys and gals were walking around with all sorts of extras and gadgets that are so unnecessary for camping. Who needs to Snapchat while camping?? Hipsters please go back to Portland or wherever you are from and please stop invading nice campgrounds.

Cooper Lake is Stunning and very cold. I brought my son up here to show him what it is like to snorkel cold clear water, it was great except the bottom was mud so staying in one spot became cloudy. We did snorkel the river too but it was even colder but the fish were more abounded. The Mt. views were spectacular; we came during the week and had the campground to ourselves, but had to walk down into them. Camp site were not very level so setting up a large tent would be a problem, but several small tents would work great. Only 2 bathrooms for the 15 camp sites and are in the parking area, so be prepared to walk up and down the trail to them. Lake is for non-motorized boats only.

Beautiful Campground. Definitely will visit again. A lot of sites are big enough for multiple tents. All sites have fire pit and picnic table. Fills up by Friday afternoon so get there early for your pick of sites. You will have to walk your gear in, 100-200 feet. Lake is great for kayak, canoe, or paddle boarding. May need a boat to get to the fish as edges are shallow. Nights were cool early June.

Cooper Lake is stunning. Bring a kayak to enjoy the crystal clear water and views of the ridge from the center of the lake. Beware: the lake is freezing even in the hottest summer (making it a great place to cool off!). Campground is nice, comfortable/dry ground, next to water.
