Ottawa Station

Story

Ottawa Train Station, or Ottawa station, is a Via Rail station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 200 Tremblay Road and serves inter-city trains connecting it to Toronto and Montreal. OC Transpo's bus routes 61 and 62 carries railway passengers west into the city centre or east to St Laurent Station . The former Bus Transitway station, Train Station, will reopen in 2018 as the Confederation Line LRT station named Tremblay. The station was designed by John B. Parkin & Associates and was built in 1966. It won a Massey Medal for architecture in 1967. In 2000, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada named the station as one of the top 500 buildings produced in Canada during the last millennium.Ottawa’s trains once came into a large downtown Union Station a short distance from the Parliament buildings, but with the replacement of the railway tracks beside the Rideau Canal with the National Capital Commission’s Colonel By Drive scenic parkway, the former station has been converted into the Government Conference Centre.

It's an adequate station that runs fairly efficiently. Just lacks character. I find it's truly unfortunate that the station is in the middle of nowhere and not downtown.
A cool, retro vibe radiates from this station. When I first arrived here from Fallowfield station, the getting underground part was a hassle, but once the halls opened up to the ramp, stairs, and elevator, it looked great. It was just straight ahead to the taxi lane and O-Train bus stop. I liked the clock. There’s plenty of maps and screens to keep yourself entertained if you’re bored.
This modern looking train station is the main rail hub for the national capital region. It serves only via rail trains that connect to the rest of the network via Toronto and Montreal. The file is lucking food and shopping facilities. You can get Uber delivered, but check the time of your train you could be short on time. The good part is the wifi access and the proximity to transit. There is also a lounge for the business class travellers.
My friend left her wallet on the train and the staff was so unhelpful and lacking compassion. They said we would need to wait ten minutes. Well over an hour later, there was no staff to be found. The security guard checked in on us and was able to contact the staff. The staff came to talk to us and said they were going to look. As if this is the first time they’ve heard of this. After they took our complaint seriously it took about 10 minutes for them to get the wallet. abysmal customer service by ViaRail, very disappointed.
A lovely train station, such a superior experience compared to using the train. Plenty of places to sit, accessible services like bathrooms, tickets, and snacks. There are clear signs with key information related to arrivals and departures. During the day the station floods with light. Good service by staff.
