Had a great experience at OGH's ER thanks to Eva and Mark. Thanks guys! Super attentive despite being stretched so thin due to lack of staff. Triage and radiation staff also were fantastic. Staff was working their tails off but still did their best to take care of their patients. The ER is not the ideal place to spend Christmas Eve, but it was as quick and painless as it could be!
Don't waste your time trying to get any resemblance of care. The most unprofessional experience I have ever had. Took my 88 year old mother due to heart issues. Left her laying on a cart in the hall for 7 hours before I took her out of there. They said hours earlier she was going to a room and be admitted. Found out hours later they have had people there for 3 days waiting. That was direct from a nurse.
The only decent thing in the emergency room was the triage nurse who sincerely apologized for the 6 hour wait. Ridiculous. I was in severe back.pain. after 2 hours of laying on a chair I asked the triage nurse how much.longer...she said at least 2 hours...I overhead another triage nurse tell a friend who came in for treatment it would be 6 hours. We left...went to Bradford Well Now clinic. Immediately put in a room.. Within 15 min urinalysis and x rays done within 15 min assessed by pa. Out the door with prescriptions sent to pharmacy. In an hour.Oh did i.mention they offered snacks and water.never emergency room again. .
Was just there to drop some things off for a family member who is a patient. I get directed to the second floor nurses station. Was told that the person I was there for was in the Covid isolation unit so I would have to check in with the 2F nurses station. I get to the nurse's station and stood there for a while being ignored. They were talking amongst themselves and talking on the phone. After some more time goes by another employee walks up behind me. The main nurse then leans over so she can look around me and begins talking to the other employee. Apparently I'm just a peasant and they don't have to acknowledge or talk to me. So I say fine, I'll find the room myself. To which none responded. After walking around for 15 minutes I find where the room is. As I'm heading back there another nurses stops me and says it's an isolation unit. I say I have stuff to drop off but the nurses station refuses to talk to me. They then begin preparing to have me suit up with scrubs and PPE equipment to go back there. I say couldn't someone simply deliver this to the patient? The nurse says Well, OK. They take the things I needed delivered from me and say they'll deliver them to my family member. Rude disgusting behavior. I know accepting things to be delivered to a patient's room is probably a task far beneath the hot shots at the nurses station but I was glad at least someone was willing to acknowledge my presence.
After talking with Terry in customer relations I feel better about this hospital. I still don’t recommend using the ER unless u truly have an emergency, however my main concern would be with the billing of the triage nurse practitioner. We do not have insurance and after talking with the nurse practitioner on an I pad for 2 minutes at the most, we were sent a bill for $2800. Terry is trying to help with this and we greatly appreciate her help. They are going to put signage up stating there are costs associated with triage, which is helpful.
ER doctors and staff were fantastic! Although I sat in the ER hallway for over two days because they had no room available while I had to wait for surgery. Turns out the ER gave me a blood thinner and didn't tell me. My surgeon told me he'd have to wait to do surgery for fear of internal bleeding. Went to ER on 7/19 didn't have surgery until afternoon of 7/21. I have had NO FOOD OR WATER since the 18th. Never saw the doctor after the surgery, neither did my husband. They left my husband in the waiting room they told him to stay in. OR nurse gave me ice chips to chew on. When the evening shift came in the nurse physically took the ice away. "Not on your order, so no you can't have it. I walked out the next day 7/22 when I wasn't given breakfast, Nurse at desk gave me the same answer. "Not on your order, so no food or water." I walked out. Haven't seen the surgeon since. Call his office to schedule a follow-up - they gave me an appointment in NOVEMBER! WTH SMH
12-03-22 I will have to say they were pretty dam though they ran more test and rechecks then I expected they would . Answer question’s even did everything to find a hospital with endocrine team with icu bed available , I’m going into thyroid storm . If there are any endocrine Doctors reading this please consider applying for the endocrine position .Thyroid storm is no joke it can literally kill you . I know I’m not the only one in this area who needs an endocrinologist . I would give 5 stars . Thank you to the team who did work on me today .
Stayed here for 4 days and I hope I never have to go back here again. Scariest time of my life. Would not recommend this hospital to anyone if you have a choice. ER is great , I did have to wait about 8 hours to get an official room but the ER doctors and nurses were very nice and on the ball...but once I got up to the 3rd floor it was terrifying. Needs better management for sure!!!! Nurses don't answer the call buttons hardly ever but have the time to giggle loudly and chit chat outside while the button is going off. I would often get handed meds and not even told what they were. Also pretty bad when their own nurses tell me I should go somewhere else because the place is so bad I do appreciate the honesty but it is terrifying to hear that when you are in the hospital.
I was traveling to olean to visit family and had to go to the er if thats what you can even call it. The intake nurse needed to get blood work from me and when he did not get anything from the 1st stick he use the same needle and stuck me a 2nd time. If you know anything about the working in the medical field that is not ok. And after that had to sot in the waiting room 6 hours to find out that they were not going to help me.
Olean General Hospital is the dirtiest medical facility I have ever been in. There were a couple of kind nurses, and there were some very rude, unprofessional nurses during my husband’s stay. I have NEVER been so mistreated in any hospital. It was a horrible experience in every way, God help me if my husband or I ever have to go there again. Hopefully, administration/management will read this and do a major overhaul!
