Ochoco Ranger House

We loved our stay in this comfy, rustic ranger cabin. Yes, the inside shows a little wear and tear, but there is also a ton of charm and everything is perfectly functional. For less than the price of most hotels nearby, we had a whole house to ourselves... but if you are looking for a posh and perfect spot, increase your budget and look elsewhere ;

This is a Forest Service cabin with electricity and hot water-A rarity in historic forest cabins. You cannot compare this to Airbnb or other city lodgings. It is a gem in their system. Don't expect much with this historic home with antique systems. It's warm, the oven/stovetop works well, there's a shower and bath with hot water-also a rarity. Enjoy the area as there's a million things to do. Keep that in perspective!

Took my 6 and 9 year old grandchildren, the carpet is beyond filthy, what a shame as new flooring would make this a great place! Walls, doors, baseboards are all filthy dirty not maintained at all! Code they gave us for access was the WRONG CODE, took me well over an hour to find someone at a bunkhouse and numerous phone calls to find out the correct code!

It was filthy. I cleaned it when we walked in because I couldn't get comfortable in there the way it was. Also we felt like the place was haunted. We were in the room on the main floor and heard someone walking around upstairs. We couldn't sleep because of all of the bumps and thuds in the night. Just creepy and not comfortable.Rooms: 1/5

My family stayed at this place for our 2019 road trip. Personally I liked the rustic feeling. BE WARNED this place has a very eerie feeling and we heard footsteps and got eerie vibes.

Perfect place to stay for a vacation in the ochocos. Quaint CCC house built for the ranger at the time. 3 bedroom, full kitchen, comfortable place. Easy access to Walton lake, other recreation areas.

Good trail information, but no water or supplies available.

Dirty, dated and not well maintained. Grass weeds overgrown. Countertops peeling, filthy stained carpeting. Dont recommend
