Oakwood Resort

We just had a wonderful mini getaway at the Oakwood. Everything was great, the staff at the front desk were so helpful and friendly. Kids really enjoyed the pool and access to the beach. Only feedback is the breakfast buffet. It’s good but pretty basic. With it being summer would have loved to see more seasonal fruit and vegetables. Eggs were definitely from a bag and not farm fresh. With being so close to many amazing farms only feedback is to showcase them.

We stayed Thursday Oct 16/25.nYour accommodation was disgusting!!! Do you not have room checks prior to check in? I have attached pics but you can’t take a pic if musty mildew smell. Filthy Dirty beyond!!! even the shower curtain rod is backwards! Food in the ice bucket, dusty beyond!!!! Room doesn’t have a step off the outside door for someone using a cane is a far danger!!!nShameful to say the least and over $275 plus!!! Check-in was obviously untrained staff that couldn’t split the bill in two separate invoices.nI’ve worked at a hotel for 20 years. Caesars Windsor 5 Diamond rating. You need serious attention to room maintenance and guest services!!!!! Go look for yourself!!! And please don’t say due to occupancy as it was clear there was barely any guests on the grounds.nYour facilities such as hot tub have NO SIGNS NEAR THE AREA HOW TO TURN IT ON OR WHERE THE BUTTON IS!!! Way on the other side. Take the time to update your amenities!! Room 204 cedar lodge nBeyond upset!!!

The Oakwood has a lot going for it. The location is excellent, just steps from Main Street in Grand Bend, with a family-friendly atmosphere, access to a private beach, and the convenience of an indoor pool. On paper, it seems like a great resort.nnHowever, after experiencing other Ontario resorts at a similar price point, I would not choose to return. The property feels dated, which could be overlooked if the rooms and common areas were maintained to a higher standard of cleanliness and care. Unfortunately, that was not the case during our stay. We arrived to find a bathroom with a strong mildew smell from an old shower curtain, a broken tissue box holder that gave a poor impression, broken coffee maker, a fridge that had not been cleaned and was covered in food residue, an outdoor table littered with cigarette ashes, and bedding with visible makeup stains.nnWhen I raised these concerns at check-out, I was told there is a phone number to call for assistance. This number is not shared during check-in, nor is it available in the rooms, which makes it difficult to address problems as they arise. Falling back on a waiver signed at check-in does not substitute for good communication. At the very least, staff could share this information clearly upon arrival or provide it in the rooms so guests know how to get help.nnFor those looking to spend their money wisely, alternatives such as Blue Mountain Resort offer a far better experience at a similar cost. Blue Mountain provides more amenities, more activities, and the added benefit of a full kitchen, which makes for a much more enjoyable and convenient stay.nnOverall, Oakwood has potential, but until greater attention is given to cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service, it falls short of what guests should expect at this price point.

I enjoyed the golf course here. It is nine holes and well tended and a bit of a challenge with its varied mixture of elevations. The rooms, at least in our building, did leave much to be desired. They were fairly clean but very long in the renovation tooth. It was almost a time capsule back to the eighties. What we did not like were the fees and gratuities pushed onto our bill. In no universe would I tip 18% for a buffet breakfast, but there we are. We are unsure if we'll return. The location is convenient if you're visiting Grand Bend or Bayfield and the beach access is a bonus, but if you're not a golfer there are certainly other options.

We loved this place and will return. Overall we had a really great experience. Family of four. Stayed in a double 2 beds queen size bedroom. The rooms are a bit dated as other reviews have noted but they were clean and the beds were VERY comfortable. Very quiet at night. Each room has an air conditioner attached. Our AC stopped working on our fourth night but I just unplugged it and plugged it in again and it started working again just fine. Each room has a TV, mini fridge, separate sink just outside the bathroom which had its own sink. Shower worked great.nThe daily breakfast buffet was very good. Only ask is that you maybe add some oatmeal and/granola cereal.nThe 9 hole golf course was great. The pro at the shop was very helpful. Most holes were three par and not terribly difficult to negotiate. The restaurant pub was pretty good.nThere is a main strip with many restaurants and shops very close by which was really lovely. Several excellent places to eat, beautiful beach with a paved path along side it, reminded me of Key West.nThe resort beach and is about a 10 minute walk from the resort through a private neighborhood. The beach was lovely and not crowded at all. The Pinery provincial park is about a 15 minute drive away and is one of the best provincial parks I have visited for shops, service, activities etc. I was not impressed with the fishing prospects but I didn’t deeply investigate fishing in the area. The cycling trail was great but needs better signage/markers.nAgain this was a great resort and we will definitely go back again next year. Thank you.
